Speaking to the press, Mr. Remy Ejel said that Nestlé is proud to accompany Vietnam through familiar products such as Nescafé, KitKat and Maggi, and is steadfast in its goal of improving the quality of life of consumers through nutrition, health and a positive lifestyle.
Accordingly, Nestlé highly values the Vietnamese market due to its strong consumption growth rate and great investment potential. Vietnam is not only an important domestic market but is also emerging as an export center of the group.
"Along with that, skilled human resources, dynamic workforce, stable market and favorable policy environment have made Vietnam a long-term investment destination for Nestlé," said General Director Remy Ejel.
Regarding the commitment to net zero emissions by 2050, Mr. Ejel said, Nestlé is ahead of the curve by leveraging its global R&D system and promoting regenerative agriculture practices.
"Agriculture is a strategic focus because nearly two-thirds of emissions come from agriculture and this is also an area where scientific and technological innovation can create a clear transformation," shared a Nestlé representative.
Explaining the reason why Nestlé chose Vietnam as the Group's coffee investment center, Mr. Ejel said that each year, Nestlé purchases nearly 700 million USD worth of coffee in Vietnam.
Mr. Remy Ejel emphasized the geographical advantages, skilled labor resources and strong cooperation spirit from the Government to farmers. In addition, Vietnam not only supplies green coffee beans but also plays a key role in processing – an important part of the global coffee value chain.
Adding his opinion, Mr. Binu Jacob, General Director of Nestlé Vietnam, said that the cooperation with the Central Highlands Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute is a testament to the efforts to transfer science and technology, from providing quality seedlings that are resistant to climate change to supporting farmers to increase productivity. He said that Vietnamese farmers have an open spirit and are ready to innovate, and this creates a favorable ecosystem for Nestlé to implement the NESCAFÉ Plan program, where the farmers themselves play the role of an extension of the company's agricultural support staff. Currently, NESCAFÉ Plan has about 120 farmer group leaders who play an important role in retraining about 23,000 other farmers participating in the program.
According to Mr. Remy Ejel, Nestlé also affirmed that the global economic and political instability does not affect its investment plans in Vietnam, because the group always operates with a long-term strategy. The close relationship with the farming community and outstanding production efficiency are factors that help Vietnam continue to maintain its strategic role.
Aiming at the goal of Vietnam becoming a high-income country by 2045, Mr. Binu Jacob said that Nestlé is ready to contribute through three pillars: transferring science and technology, promoting economic growth through investment capital, and developing human resources.
Specifically, Nestlé is cooperating with agricultural science institutes to apply and transfer scientific and technological advances suitable for Vietnam.
"We have been continuously investing in Vietnam over the past few decades, especially in the last three years. The investment capital in the past three years is almost equal to the entire capital of the first 25 years. That shows that we believe in Vietnam and are investing for the future. The more investment capital we bring into Vietnam, the more we can contribute to promoting GDP growth," Mr. Remy Ejel shared.

Nestlé has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a number of technical universities through a "three-way" cooperation model (School - Enterprise - State) and aims to support agricultural students, especially in the Central Highlands, to attract young people to return to smart and sustainable agriculture.
"This is also in line with Nestlé's philosophy of "Creating Shared Value" - when doing business, it is not just about making profit; we want the community to benefit, the Government to benefit, and Vietnamese youth to benefit as well," said a Nestlé representative.
Nestlé wishes to accompany Vietnam's growth journey, General Director Remy Ejel affirmed./.
