Nestlé Vietnam and the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation to promote sustainable growth

During the working session between the leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and Mr. Remy Ejel, General Director of Nestlé Asia, Oceania and Africa (Zone AOA), the two sides announced a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation on transitioning to a circular and low-emission economic model.

The focus of the cooperation is to promote regenerative agriculture and low-emission farming models. Through training programs, technology transfer and seed support, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and Nestlé hope to help farmers improve their ability to adapt to climate change, improve their livelihoods and increase the competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural products.

Over the past time, the NESCAFÉ Plan initiative, one of Nestlé’s signature sustainable agriculture programs, has supported more than 21,000 farming households, replanting 86,000 hectares of coffee and contributing to increasing farmers’ income. The new partnership will expand training, support high-quality varieties and technology transfer, especially in the Central Highlands, helping them improve their livelihoods in the context of climate change, while contributing to Vietnam’s Net Zero target.

In addition to transforming farming practices, the partnership will also focus on innovation and capacity building. The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and Nestlé will jointly organize workshops, seminars and training courses on circular economy, greenhouse gas emission reduction, waste management and sustainable agricultural practices. These activities will bring together experts, policymakers and businesses to build a legal environment conducive to sustainable development.

In the field of human resource development, Nestlé implements an internship program for agricultural students of Tay Nguyen University, helping to train the young generation with skills and practical experience in regenerative agriculture.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment, said that the Ministry highly appreciated the initiative of enterprises in promoting the Government's green growth goals. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with Nestlé demonstrates the long-term commitment between the State and enterprises in contributing to Vietnam's Net Zero target by 2050.

Representing Nestlé Group, Mr. Remy Ejel, General Director of Nestlé Zone AOA, emphasized that the agreement reflects Nestlé's commitment to sustainable investment in Vietnam and the group's role as a strategic partner accompanying the Government in the transition to a low-emission economic model.

With more than three decades of presence in Vietnam, Nestlé is not only a large food company but also a sustainable partner, promoting regenerative agriculture, healthy nutrition and the goal of a zero-waste future. Recently, when the central provinces suffered damage from storms No. 10, 11 and 13, Nestlé Vietnam provided cash and nutritional products through the Vietnam Fatherland Front to promptly share the difficulties with the people.
