On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the first General Election Day (January 6, 1946 - January 6, 2026), implementing the direction of the Office of the National Assembly and Vietnam News Agency, the News Agency Publishing House coordinated with the Department of Information and Library under the Office of the National Assembly to compile and publish the Vietnamese - English bilingual photo book "80 years of the National Assembly of Vietnam (1946-2026)". At the book launch ceremony on the afternoon of December 2, Secretary General of the National Assembly, Head of the Office of the National Assembly Le Quang Manh said that the photo book had been carefully appraised, compared and verified by the Advisory Council and experts, ensuring its authenticity, political and historical value; thereby, vividly reflecting the formation and development process of 15 terms of the National Assembly, associated with important milestones of the country.

Since the first General Election to elect the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (January 6, 1946), now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam - a milestone in the history of national development, it has been 80 years. The glorious journey of 80 years associated with the development stages of the country, realizing the goals and aspirations of Independence - Freedom - Happiness, the National Assembly has demonstrated and performed well its position and role as the highest representative body of the People, the highest state power body always for the people and for the country.

Eight decades accompanying the nation with 15 terms of operation, in the context of resistance war full of difficulties, hardships, challenges, and sacrifices as well as in peace and unity, with the function of being an agency with constitutional rights, legislative rights, supreme supervision, deciding on important issues of the country, the National Assembly has fulfilled the responsibility that the People entrusted, entrusted, and placed their trust in; made great and important contributions to the great victories of the nation; created the institutional and legal foundation for the nation to enter a new era - the era of building a rich, powerful, civilized, and happy country, worthy of being "a loyal servant of the People" as President Ho Chi Minh instructed, the National Assembly of the People, by the People, for the People.

With more than 850 photos presented scientifically in chronological order, the book vividly reflects the formation and development process of the Vietnamese National Assembly, the events and activities of turning points of the 15 National Assembly terms, from 1946 to present. The book is presented solemnly, modernly and aesthetically.

Affirming the role, position and prestige of the Vietnamese National Assembly

The book layout is divided into 4 parts:

Part 1: The birth of the Vietnamese National Assembly; The 1st National Assembly operating in a democratic republic (1946-1960): Vividly reenacts the 1st National Assembly in a democratic republic (1946-1960), when the National Assembly laid the foundation for constitutionalism, legislation and supreme supervision amid the country's myriad difficulties. This is the period of establishing the democratic and innovative nature and affirming the representative role of the National Assembly in the cause of building a State of the People, by the People, for the People.

Part 2: The Vietnamese National Assembly in the cause of building socialism in the North, fighting to liberate the South, and unifying the country (1960-1976): Reflects the period when the Vietnamese National Assembly accompanied the cause of building socialism in the North, while leading and encouraging the entire people to fight to liberate the South and unify the country (1960-1976). Through the system of documentary images, viewers clearly feel the role of the National Assembly in perfecting the legal system, consolidating the state apparatus, and mobilizing human and material resources for the frontline. This was the period when the National Assembly strongly promoted its mettle and intelligence, contributing to the complete victory of the cause of national liberation and unification.

Part 3: The Vietnamese National Assembly with the renovation process, promoting the cause of industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration (1976-2021): Rich documentary images reflect the process of the National Assembly perfecting its institutions, innovating its methods of operation, issuing many important policies to promote socio-economic development, strengthening national defense and security and expanding foreign relations. This is the period when the National Assembly clearly affirmed its role in creating and accompanying the country to develop rapidly and sustainably.

Part Four: The XV National Assembly towards the era of growth (2021-2026): This is considered the central and outstanding part of the book when it recreates the journey of innovation, mettle and aspiration of the XV National Assembly in the period of 2021-2026, the period when the country entered the era of digital transformation and deep integration. Typical images and documents show that the National Assembly continues to improve the quality of legislation, supervision and decision on important national issues; promote reform, apply technology and strengthen parliamentary diplomacy. This is the period when the National Assembly demonstrates the spirit of innovation and modernity, aiming at the goal of sustainable development and prosperity, clearly demonstrated through the basic contents of the Ninth and Tenth Sessions of the XV National Assembly.

It can be said that, through carefully selected images and documents, concise and concise articles, the book has summarized the history of the National Assembly with outstanding milestones over the past 80 years; affirming the role, position and prestige of the National Assembly of Vietnam in the political system, in international relations and in the hearts of the people. Publishing the book on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the first General Election aims to contribute to propagating and educating all classes of people, especially the young generation, about the history of the National Assembly, thereby increasing their love and pride for the country and the great achievements it has achieved; at the same time, it is also to acknowledge and pay tribute to the merits and contributions of generations of leaders and National Assembly deputies of all periods, especially those who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. The bilingual photo book "80 years of the National Assembly of Vietnam (1946 - 2026)" along with other books published and announced on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Assembly of Vietnam, was acknowledged and evaluated by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man as providing valuable scientific and historical documents on the organization, activities and important achievements of the National Assembly in the cause of protecting, building, developing the country and international integration.
