The most energy-consuming appliance in households.

When electricity bills rise, the first thing consumers should pay attention to is appliances that affect the temperature in their homes.

Common household appliances such as water heaters, electric heaters, air conditioners, refrigerators, and especially electric stoves and ovens, often consume a lot of electricity. Among them, an electric oven can consume more electricity than a refrigerator or air conditioner, with the amount of electricity consumed in one hour equivalent to the amount of electricity a refrigerator uses in two days.

Household appliances consume a lot of electricity.

If you don't use your oven very often, you may not need to worry about its electricity consumption. However, if you use your oven for nearly 15 hours a month, you should check the appliance's electricity consumption.

Many electric ovens consume from 2.3 kWh per hour to 5 kW for more complex dishes. If we consider the current average electricity cost of approximately 3,000 VND per kW, the monthly cost for 15 hours of use would range from 103,500 to 225,000 VND.

What can I do to save electricity when using an oven?

To save electricity, users can try some alternatives to ovens. Air fryers are a good option as they generally consume less electricity and cook faster. Microwaves and pressure cookers are similarly efficient. If you have an air fryer, consider using it instead of a large oven.

Users should exercise caution when using the oven.

In addition, convection ovens are also an energy-efficient option, although the initial cost may be higher.

If oven use is still necessary, users should optimize its use by avoiding preheating unless specifically instructed in the recipe, using appropriate cookware, turning off the oven near the end of cooking, and minimizing opening the oven door to check on food. By keeping the oven clean and following these guidelines, users can cook efficiently without resorting to excessive economizing.
