The most power-consuming devices in households

When the electricity bill is high, the first thing users should pay attention to is the temperature-related devices in the home.

Common household appliances such as water heaters, electric heaters, air conditioners, refrigerators, especially electric stoves and ovens, often consume a lot of electricity. Among them, electric ovens can consume more electricity than refrigerators or air conditioners, with the ability to consume the amount of electricity in 1 hour equivalent to the amount of electricity used by a refrigerator in 2 days.

High power consuming household appliances

If you don’t use your oven often, you probably don’t need to worry about its power consumption. However, if you use your oven for nearly 15 hours a month, you should check the power consumption of the appliance.

Many electric ovens consume from 2.3 kWh per hour to 5 kW for complex dishes. If you calculate the average of about 3,000 VND per kW of electricity today, the cost for 15 hours of use per month is from 103,500 to 225,000 VND.

What can be done to save electricity for the oven?

To save electricity, users can try some alternatives to the oven. Air fryers are a good choice because they usually consume less electricity and cook quickly. Microwaves and pressure cookers also have similar efficiency. If users have an air fryer, consider using it instead of a large oven.

Users should be careful when using the oven.

Additionally, convection ovens are also an energy-efficient option, although the initial cost can be high.

If you still need to use an oven, you should optimize its use by not preheating it unless the recipe requires it, using appropriate cookware, turning it off when it is almost done, and limiting the opening of the oven door to check on the food. By keeping the oven clean and following these guidelines, you can cook efficiently without having to over-consume.
