From October 7th to 10th, at the Viettel Academy, the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army organized the 2024 All-Army Competition for Outstanding Grassroots Trade Union Chairpersons. Major General Nguyen Viet Hung, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Deputy Political Commissar of the General Department of Defense Industry, attended and encouraged the General Department of Defense Industry's team during the competition.
With the theme "Courage, Intelligence – Dedication, Compassion," the competition brought together 38 teams with nearly 600 cadres and trade union members from agencies and units throughout the army to compete in the following areas: knowledge, greetings, situational handling, and talent; demonstrating courage, intelligence, talent, and flexibility in handling situations, obstacles, and difficulties in organizing workers' movements and trade union activities, in accordance with the nature and specifics of the agency, unit, or enterprise.

The competition also serves as an opportunity to assess the overall quality and capabilities of trade union officials in general and grassroots trade union chairpersons in particular; it contributes to fostering and enhancing the awareness and knowledge of trade union officials, members, and workers regarding the position, role, functions, and tasks of the trade union organization; the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and regulations; the Resolutions and Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union; and practical experience in handling common situations encountered during the operation of the trade union organization. The competition also provides a basis for advising and proposing measures to strengthen theoretical and professional training, skills, and methods for trade union officials, contributing to improving their level, skills, and experience in directing, guiding, and organizing trade union activities at the grassroots level, meeting the requirements of trade union work.

Participating in the competition with the theme "The National Defense Industry Shines with Everlasting Faith," the team from the General Department of Defense Industry delivered an impressive performance. Specifically, in the greeting section, the team presented the theme "All for the ship that sets sail tomorrow"; in the situational problem-solving section, they performed a short play titled "The Trade Union's Warm Home"; and in the talent section, they presented a guitar solo "Mashup of Truong Sa - Wild Orchid Branch." The script was meticulously crafted, rich in artistic quality, topical, and deeply educational . Their creativity, confident and skillful stage presence, and artistic accompaniment made their performance truly moving and captivating for the audience.
Following three days of intense competition, the General Department of Defense Industry's team was awarded the Outstanding Prize at the 2024 All-Army Excellent Trade Union Chairman Competition by the Head of the General Political Department. Lieutenant Colonel Bui Tuan Hung, Chairman of the Trade Union of Factory Z173, received a Certificate of Commendation from the Head of the General Political Department at the competition.
