Workers in the capital city celebrate Tet together with their families.

On January 11th, Politburo member, Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee, and Head of the Hanoi City National Assembly Delegation, Bui Thi Minh Hoai, and Central Committee member and President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Nguyen Dinh Khang, attended the "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude to the Party" event organized by the Hanoi City Federation of Labor.

Also in attendance were over 800 union members and workers representing more than 2.7 million union members and workers throughout the city.

In his opening remarks, Chairman of the Hanoi City Federation of Labor Unions Pham Quang Thanh stated: "Tet Reunion is an annual activity organized by the Hanoi Labor Union every Tet holiday; it demonstrates the concern and support of all levels, sectors, labor unions, and society as a whole for the workforce."

Through this, we will promote the fine traditions and spirit of mutual support and compassion of the nation; encourage and motivate the workforce to overcome difficulties and challenges, enthusiastically compete in labor and production; and contribute to the socio -economic development and production and business of each enterprise.

In particular, during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, in order to practically care for and support the material and spiritual lives of union members and workers, with the motto of ensuring that no union member or worker is left without a New Year celebration, the Hanoi City Federation of Labor Unions has focused its resources on caring for and supporting disadvantaged workers, with a total amount exceeding 42 billion VND. This has created a sense of security, encouraged and motivated union members and workers to remain committed to their businesses and the trade union organization, leading to higher productivity and better quality of work.

At the "Tet Reunion" program in 2025, the Hanoi City Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee also provided support and donated 30,000 gift packages to 30,000 workers, civil servants, and laborers in difficult circumstances in the city, totaling 15 billion VND. The Hanoi City Federation of Labor Unions decided to support 33 "Trade Union Shelters," with each newly built house valued at 40 million VND and each renovated house at 30 million VND, for 33 families of workers and civil servants in difficult circumstances to improve their lives and housing in 2025. This year's "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude to the Party" program was vibrant and exciting with many meaningful activities for workers and civil servants. In addition to the ceremonial part of the program, union members and workers participated in activities such as: making banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), arranging Tet fruit trays, and a raffle.

Speaking at the "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude to the Party" event, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang expressed his delight to learn that this year, more than 103,000 union members and workers will receive support and care from the city's Confederation of Labor and higher-level grassroots trade unions with a total estimated amount of nearly 70 billion VND, equivalent to 12% of the total number of workers and employees, an increase of 2% compared to 2024.

On this occasion, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor respectfully thanks the Standing Committee of the Hanoi City Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City, the National Assembly Delegation, and all agencies, departments, organizations, Party committees, and local authorities and units in Hanoi City for their leadership, guidance, coordination, and effective support for the activities of the Capital's Trade Union, and for their continued support of the Trade Union organization at important political forums.

Emphasizing the important significance of 2025, the Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Nguyen Dinh Khang, suggested that the Hanoi Trade Union organization continue to innovate the content and methods of its activities, effectively implement the Resolutions of the Party Congress and the Trade Union Congress at all levels, and focus on successfully carrying out four key tasks. These include actively and proactively participating in the reform and restructuring of the political system's organizational apparatus according to Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW dated October 25, 2017, of the 12th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam; and better fulfilling its function of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members, workers, and employees.

Furthermore, the Hanoi Trade Union effectively organized patriotic emulation movements among workers, contributing to the fulfillment of targets and tasks in the 2025 socio-economic development plan, the Resolution of the 17th Hanoi City Party Congress and the 13th National Party Congress; and effectively implemented projects, programs, and plans of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Hanoi City Confederation of Labor on focusing resources on welfare for union members and workers in the new situation. In the immediate future, the Hanoi Trade Union will improve the quality of activities to care for the material and spiritual well-being of union members and workers; and organize well the activities to care for workers during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, ensuring that all union members and workers have a happy and joyful Tet holiday.
