Arsenal's assistant coach, Carlos Cuesta, is poised to make history by taking charge of Parma in Serie A at the young age of 29.

According to Sky Sports , Cuesta is the leading candidate for the Parma head coach position, as the club seeks a rebuilding process after a disappointing season. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Parma are ready to give the young Spanish strategist the opportunity to lead the club.

Although the deal has not yet been officially finalized, Romano reports that negotiations between Arsenal and Parma have entered their final stages. It is highly likely that the Serie A club will receive the green light from the Gunners.

If everything goes smoothly, Cuesta will become the youngest Serie A coach in the 21st century, at the age of 29 years, 10 months and 20 days. Cuesta joined Mikel Arteta's coaching staff in August 2020, after impressive years at Atletico Madrid and Juventus.

Since then, Cuesta has played a crucial role in Arsenal's transformation – from a team in crisis to a leading contender for the Premier League title.

Cuesta's departure is clearly a major loss for manager Mikel Arteta, especially as he faces pressure to win a major trophy next season, after six years in charge with only one FA Cup title.

Parma endured a disappointing season, finishing 16th in Serie A and just five points above the relegation zone. Putting faith in a coach with no first-team experience like Cuesta is a big gamble, but it could also be the start of a promising new chapter.
