Following their 1-2 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage on March 1st, Tottenham face a very uncertain prospect in the final stages of the 2025/26 Premier League season. Igor Tudor's team are now only a few points above the relegation zone.
Spurs are just four points behind West Ham, who are in 18th place. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest, who are in 17th place, are only two points behind Tottenham with ten rounds of matches remaining.
If Tottenham are relegated at the end of this season, they will suffer a financial shock. In the event of being relegated to the Championship, the North London club could lose around £260 million in revenue per year. This would be a major blow to the club's ambitions and rebuilding plans.
Notably, players' incomes have also been severely affected. The Athletic revealed that many Spurs stars have clauses in their contracts allowing the club to cut their salaries by up to 50% if the team is relegated. This agreement was included in their contracts before chairman Daniel Levy left his position last September.

According to data from Capology , summer signing Xavi Simons is currently the highest-paid player in the team with £195,000 per week (equivalent to over £10 million per year). If his salary were halved, the Dutch midfielder would only receive around £97,500 per week. At that point, his continued commitment to the club would be a major question mark.
Furthermore, the Spurs stars also have relatively high salaries compared to the average in the Premier League. James Maddison earns £170,000 per week, Conor Gallagher earns £160,000 per week, while Randal Kolo Muani and Mohamed Kudus both earn £150,000 per week. A salary cut would be a major blow to this group of stars.
Spurs' total wage bill is estimated at around £2.6 million per week, equivalent to £136.8 million per year (excluding bonuses). Spurs currently have the seventh highest wage bill in the Premier League, behind only Aston Villa, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City.
Under immense pressure, Tottenham will return to their home ground to host Crystal Palace on March 5th.
