On April 22, the Dak Nong Department of Internal Affairs announced that the results of the public consultation on the plan for rearranging provincial and commune-level administrative units in 2025 showed high levels of public support.
Specifically, on April 19th and 20th, the People's Committees of communes, wards, and towns organized the distribution of opinion polls directly to households, creating the most favorable conditions for voters to express their views.
As a result, 148,643 out of 154,300 voters in the province, representing households in 71 communes, wards, and towns, participated in the opinion poll, accounting for 96.33%; 5,657 voters did not participate, accounting for 3.66%.
During the consultation process, 144,600 voters agreed to the plan to merge Dak Nong, Binh Thuan, and Lam Dong provinces into a new province named Lam Dong, achieving a rate of 97.28%.
At the commune level, 144,605 out of 154,300 voters agreed, representing 97.28%, while the remaining 3,825 voters disagreed, representing 2.57%.
According to Decision No. 759/QD-TTg dated April 14th by the Prime Minister, Lam Dong province will merge with Dak Nong and Binh Thuan provinces, retaining the name Lam Dong province; the administrative and political center is expected to be located in Da Lat city.
The newly merged Lam Dong province has a natural area of 24,233 km2, making it the largest province in the country, with a population of 3,324,400 people.
