Da Nhim Hydropower Complex

Specifically, the Da Nhim hydropower plant (160MW) has achieved a production of 47.51 billion kWh since its commissioning in 1964; the Song Pha hydropower plant (7.5MW) has achieved a production of 1.24 billion kWh since 1995; and the expanded Da Nhim hydropower plant has achieved a production of 1.25 billion kWh since 2019.

At the time the Da Nhim - Song Pha hydropower complex reached a production of 50 billion kWh, the entire Hydropower Company, with a total capacity of 770 MW, had produced 85.072 billion kWh of electricity, contributing to the socio-economic development of the country; and simultaneously providing water for domestic use and agricultural cultivation in the downstream provinces of Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan.

Da Nhim Hydroelectric Power Plant

The Da Nhim hydroelectric power plant has an installed capacity of 160 MW, consisting of four horizontal-axis generating units. With a head height of 800 m, the Da Nhim hydroelectric power plant has a very low water consumption rate, approximately 0.55 m³ ^/ kWh. Construction began on April 1, 1961, and on January 15, 1964, the Da Nhim hydroelectric power plant officially began generating electricity from generating units No. 1 and No. 2, completing the entire project at the end of 1964. Annually, the Da Nhim hydroelectric power plant supplies approximately 1 billion kWh to the national power grid. In addition to electricity generation, the Da Nhim hydroelectric power plant also provides water for domestic use and intensive agriculture in the Ninh Thuan province delta, covering an area of approximately 16,000 hectares.

Song Pha Hydroelectric Power Plant

In 1992 , the electricity shortage in the South became increasingly critical. The Ministry of Energy and the State agreed to allow Power Company No. 2 to build the Song Pha hydroelectric plant, the downstream step of the Da Nhim hydroelectric plant, with a capacity of 7.5 MW (5 x 1.5 MW) to maximize the utilization of water resources from the Da Nhim hydroelectric plant's turbines. In 1994, the H1 Song Pha turbine unit was put into operation, and the entire project was completed by the end of 1996. Annually, the Song Pha hydroelectric plant supplies an average of approximately 40 million kWh of electricity to the national grid. The establishment of the Song Pha hydroelectric plant formed the Da Nhim - Song Pha hydroelectric complex with a total capacity of 167.5 MW.

To maximize the hydropower potential of Don Duong Lake, the Da Nhim Hydropower Plant Expansion Project commenced on December 12, 2015, with a capacity of 80MW. The project was fully completed in 2021, increasing the total capacity of the Da Nhim - Song Pha hydropower complex to 247.5MW, supplying the national power grid with an average of approximately 1.1 billion kWh of electricity.

The H5 Da Nhim generating unit of the Da Nhim Hydropower Plant Expansion Project was successfully connected to the grid on August 4, 2021.

Fifty-nine years have passed since the Da Nhim hydroelectric power plant was put into operation, supplying its first kWh of electricity to the grid. The workers of the Da Nhim Hydroelectric Power Company are striving in the operation and production of electricity, looking forward to celebrating the plant's 60th anniversary.
