Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery, where the parade will stop to burn incense in tribute to heroic martyrs.
With the 17th Parallel - Hien Luong Bridge - Ben Hai River, a symbol of the pain of the country's division for 21 years (1954 - 1975), this is not only a place of gratitude but also an embodiment, a place where the aspirations for peace and national reunification converge. This place is worthy of being the starting point for the Cycling Festival for Peace. According to the "reveal" of the Organizing Committee, the parade will pass through the old Hien Luong Bridge after the symbolic release of balloons and doves. Next, the group will cycle from here to the Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery (Gio Linh District) and end at Fidel Park (Dong Ha City). At the Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery, the group will burn incense to pay tribute to heroic martyrs, give gifts to families with revolutionary contributions and students in difficult circumstances.
At Fidel Park, athletes and delegates will sign and write messages on the festival's symbolic flag. The 54-square-meter flag represents the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam, with the main symbolic motifs being a dove holding a rice flower, representing the desire for peace, prosperity and happiness; along with a multi-colored silk strip: red and yellow (symbolizing the national flag), red is also the color of the blood of the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for peace today, green is the color of peace, of life reviving and developing. This flag will be sent to the UNESCO National Commission, as a message from peace lovers.
Mr. Hoang Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, expected: "Vietnam is a peace-loving country. The history of thousands of years of building and defending the country has proven that. More than anyone else, the Vietnamese people clearly recognize the value of peace. Therefore, we hope that each person present at the Cycling Day for Peace event will be a messenger for peace, conveying the desire for peace of the Vietnamese people in general and the people of Quang Tri in particular in the struggles for peace; building a message towards a peaceful, stable and prosperous world".
According to Mr. Nam, in order for the Cycling Festival for Peace to be successful and worthy of its position and significance, the participating forces must prepare carefully, organize closely, effectively and meaningfully the gratitude activities. Thereby, continuing to spread the flame of revolutionary heroism, encouraging the younger generation and all classes of people, cadres and soldiers to strive for greater results in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
