Denmark Through My Eyes Contest: Green Strokes for a Sustainable Planet

With over 24,600 entries from 260 schools and clubs across the country, the "Denmark Through My Eyes 2024" competition continues to affirm its position as an inspiring artistic platform, helping Vietnamese students freely express their love for the environment and artistic creativity.

On April 2nd, at Kim Dong Publishing House ( Hanoi ), the Danish Embassy in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Vietnam-Denmark Friendship Association, organized an awards ceremony and art exhibition for the "Denmark Through My Eyes - Green Ideas" competition.

The awards ceremony was attended by the Danish Ambassador to Vietnam, Nicolai Prytz; the Vice President of the Vietnam-Denmark Friendship Association, Le Ngoc Tuan; representatives from agencies, departments, organizations, and localities that are partners of the competition; parents and teachers; and the award-winning students.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Danish Ambassador to Vietnam, Nicolai Prytz, emphasized that young people play a crucial role in building society and promoting positive change. In particular, Vietnamese youth have many opportunities to participate in social activities, including the "Denmark Through My Eyes - Green Ideas" painting competition.

According to Ambassador Nicolai Prytz, the competition created a forum for Vietnamese students to raise awareness and express their concerns about climate and environmental issues, as well as to offer many inspiring ideas. This demonstrates the strong passion and commitment of Vietnamese youth in working together for a sustainable planet.

Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Vietnam-Denmark Friendship Association, and Deputy Director of the Climate Change Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), affirmed that the enthusiastic participation of the students demonstrates a deep awareness of the environmental challenges caused by pollution and climate change, thereby kindling hope for a green and sustainable future for the country.

It can be said that this year's competition, with the theme "Green Ideas," not only sparks creativity but also encourages students to learn about environmental challenges and propose various solutions for sustainable nature conservation.

The awards ceremony also honored 74 outstanding individual authors and 5 outstanding groups, whose works clearly demonstrated the younger generation's concern for environmental issues.

This year's Special Prize goes to Nguyen Hoang Thinh, a 6th-grade student at Hanoi Victoria School, for his artwork "Green World - Green Future," created from scraps of fabric.

At the awards ceremony, Nguyen Hoang Thinh shared his idea for the painting made from scraps of fabric, "I hope to inspire and encourage my friends and those around me to join hands in protecting our planet and environment. By creating works of art using discarded materials, I want to celebrate the beauty of the world, the beauty of life, and at the same time, strive towards sustainable values."

The organizing committee also awarded 73 other individual prizes, including 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 8 third prizes, 50 fourth prizes, and 9 promising talent awards to students from many provinces and cities across the country.

The Team Award was presented to units with outstanding achievements such as the Union of Friendship Organizations of Can Tho, Hue, and Dong Thap cities, Nguyen Sieu School, and the Educational Technology Primary School.

In addition, an art exhibition was held within the framework of the awards ceremony, showcasing many of the best works from the competition. Each painting tells a story, a powerful message about protecting nature and a green lifestyle. The exhibition created a strong appeal, spreading the message of sustainable development through the unique combination of art and environmental awareness.

The "Denmark Through My Eyes - Green Ideas" painting contest is an annual competition co-organized by the Danish Embassy and the Vietnam-Denmark Friendship Association (VIDAFA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training, Kim Dong Publishing House, and the Thiếu niên Tiền phong and Nhi đồng newspapers.

Each year, the competition is launched with a new theme, always focusing on environmental issues and the green agenda.

With its positive and highly educational messages, the competition is not only a platform for artistic creativity but also a powerful source of inspiration in raising awareness among young people about their responsibility to protect the environment. Through each painting and each brushstroke, the students have contributed to creating a green movement, promoting practical actions for a sustainable future.
