Da Nang has a new flight route: Ahmedabad (India) - Da Nang.

DNO - On the morning of October 24th, flight VJ1972, operated by Vietjet Air, carrying 120 passengers, departed from Ahmedabad (India) and landed at Da Nang International Airport.

The city's Department of Tourism , in collaboration with Vietjet Airlines, organized a program to welcome passengers on the first flight to Da Nang.

This is a new route connecting Da Nang with Ahmedabad (India), operated by Vietjet Air with a frequency of two round-trip flights per week using Airbus A320 aircraft with 180 seats per flight. Flights from Da Nang to Ahmedabad will depart on Wednesdays and Saturdays. In the reverse direction, flights from Ahmedabad to Da Nang will depart on Thursdays and Sundays.

International passengers on the first flight from Ahmedabad to Da Nang were welcomed at the airport and received gifts from the tourism industry, had their photos taken, and enjoyed an art performance.

On the inaugural flight, Mr. Nimit Midha was delighted to be welcomed at the airport, where he was photographed and given a photo on the spot. Mr. Nimit Midha said he had heard a lot about tourism in Da Nang and that this trip would give him four days to visit and experience famous tourist attractions as well as explore the culture and cuisine of Da Nang.

According to Tan Van Vuong, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, India is a promising market for Da Nang tourism. The opening of the Da Nang - Ahmedabad (India) flight route is significant in boosting the number of Indian tourists visiting Da Nang.

Da Nang's tourism industry has been proactively focusing its resources on promoting the city's tourism image, opening new flight routes from Da Nang to several Indian cities; diversifying products and services to create a tourism ecosystem that meets the needs and preferences of Indian tourists; improving service quality and customer service; and ensuring the security of Da Nang as a tourist destination.

As part of the program, the city's tourism industry welcomed a Famtrip delegation representing 20 travel companies and a Presstrip delegation of 19 journalists from India to survey and produce in-depth articles promoting Da Nang tourism in Indian media.

The groups will have 4 days to experience Da Nang's signature tourism products, including visits to Sun World Ba Na Hills, Son Tra Peninsula, Linh Ung Pagoda, the Marble Mountains (Da Nang), and Hoi An Ancient Town (Quang Nam).

Reportedly, Da Nang began focusing on promoting tourism to the Indian market in 2018 through various notable activities such as organizing tourism introduction programs in Mumbai and New Delhi; participating in trade fairs specifically targeting the Indian market; and boosting online tourism promotion of Da Nang on Instagram for the Indian market.

According to the city's Department of Tourism, in the first nine months of 2024, the number of tourists from India to Da Nang reached approximately 139,086, an increase of 4.2% compared to the same period in 2023, despite the lack of direct flights from major Indian cities to Da Nang. In 2024, Da Nang also hosted four large weddings of Indian couples with over 1,200 guests and 20 MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism groups from India with approximately 3,000 visitors.

Ahmedabad is known to be the largest city in the state of Gujarat and the 7th largest metropolitan area in India, with a population of approximately 5.1 million people. The direct flight connection between Da Nang and Ahmedabad by Vietjet Air will facilitate and promote trade as well as the exchange of tourists between the two localities.
