Highlights of the "Flattened Rice Pounding" Contest in O Lam Commune

On the afternoon of November 1, the People's Committee of O Lam commune organized the "Pounding Flat Rice" Contest in 2025, to celebrate Ok Om Bok Festival - the Moon worshiping festival of the Khmer people in the South.

The teams compete in pounding flat rice.

The Organizing Committee enjoys the products of the competing teams.

The competition had the participation of 15 teams from hamlets and schools in the commune, each team had 4 members. The teams took turns performing the steps: Roasting, pounding, and sifting according to the traditional process within 30 minutes.

The Organizing Committee scores based on the following criteria: Technique and smooth operation; coordination of members in the same team; standard product quality, delicious mix, beautiful display; beautiful traditional costumes...

Teams compete in folk games.

Within the framework of the competition, there were also folk games such as: Water fetching team, sack jumping, tug of war, thereby creating a joyful and cohesive atmosphere among ethnic people.

The Organizing Committee awarded the Flattened Rice Pounding Contest.

At the end of the contest, the organizing committee awarded the first prize to Phuoc Loi hamlet team; Truong An Tuc cluster won the second prize; Phuoc An and Phuoc Tho hamlets won the third prize; the prize for "Most beautiful traditional costume" went to Phuoc Loi hamlet team.

Activities to preserve, maintain and promote traditional cultural values, improve the material and spiritual life of Khmer people. In addition, promote the image of the flat rice making profession, contributing to the development of community cultural tourism .
