Buddha's Birthday, Buddhist year 2567.

On May 26, at Chuong Pagoda ( Hung Yen city), the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of the province held the Buddha's Birthday Celebration, Buddhist calendar 2567, solar calendar 2023.

At the ceremony, monks, nuns and Buddhists listened to the message of the Great Buddha's Birthday, Buddhist calendar 2567, from the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. The message emphasized that this year's Buddha's Birthday, Vietnamese Buddhists also respectfully commemorate the 60th anniversary of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc, the Supreme Patriarch who immolated himself (1963-2023) to fight for national peace . His flame of compassion and his immortal heart have the power to illuminate and awaken human conscience, dispel all hatred, overcome all narrow-minded selfishness and all extreme ideas. He is a shining symbol of the spirit of compassion, wisdom and courage of a Bodhisattva in this world and the worldly spirit of Vietnamese Buddhism.

In the context of humanity having just experienced the Covid-19 pandemic, wars and conflicts still taking place in many places around the world , the message calls on monks, nuns and Buddhists to follow the Bodhisattva vows, diligently practice; strive to create solidarity, live a good life, and follow the religion together with the government and the people to join hands to build and protect a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

Speaking at the Buddha's Birthday Ceremony, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Huu Nghia congratulated the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of the province, dignitaries, monks, nuns and Buddhists on a peaceful and happy Buddha's Birthday; at the same time, he highly appreciated the Hung Yen Provincial Buddhist Sangha for its new development, close ties, and effective implementation of patriotic emulation movements and campaigns launched by the Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front. The Provincial Party Committee Secretary expressed his belief that monks, nuns and Buddhists will continue to promote the tradition of "protecting the country and pacifying the people"; fulfill their duties well in 2023, propagate the Dharma, cultivate morality, and comply with the Party's policies and the State's laws; actively respond to patriotic emulation movements and campaigns launched by all levels, sectors and each locality, contributing to the development of Hung Yen homeland.

At the ceremony, provincial leaders and leaders of sectors and localities presented flowers and incense to celebrate Buddha's birthday and performed the Buddha bathing ceremony.
