Buddha's Birthday Celebration, Buddhist Calendar 2567.

On May 26th, at Chuong Pagoda ( Hung Yen city), the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Hung Yen province organized the Great Buddha's Birthday Celebration, Buddhist calendar 2567, Gregorian calendar 2023.

At the ceremony, monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers listened to the message for the Great Buddha's Birthday Celebration, Buddhist Calendar 2567, from the Acting Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Association. The message emphasized that this year's Buddha's Birthday celebration also marks the 60th anniversary of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc, the Supreme Patriarch, who self-immolated (1963-2023) to fight for national peace . His compassionate flame and immortal heart have the power to illuminate and awaken human conscience, dissolving all hatred, transcending all selfish individualism and extremist ideas. He is a shining symbol of the compassion, wisdom, and courage of a Bodhisattva in this world and the engaged spirit of Vietnamese Buddhism.

In the context of humanity having just gone through the Covid-19 pandemic, and with wars and conflicts still occurring in many parts of the world , the message calls on monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers to follow the Bodhisattva vows, diligently practice; strive to create unity, live a good life, and uphold moral values, working together with the government and people to build and protect a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

Speaking at the Buddha's Birthday celebration, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Huu Nghia congratulated the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Hung Yen province, the clergy, monks, nuns, and Buddhists on a peaceful and happy Buddha's Birthday season. He also highly appreciated the Hung Yen Provincial Buddhist Association's new development, its close ties with and effective implementation of patriotic emulation movements and campaigns launched by the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front. The Provincial Party Secretary expressed his confidence that monks, nuns, and Buddhists will continue to uphold the tradition of "protecting the nation and ensuring the people's well-being"; successfully fulfill their duties in 2023, propagate the true Dharma, cultivate virtue, and strictly abide by the Party's policies and the State's laws; actively participate in patriotic emulation movements and campaigns launched by all levels, sectors, and localities, contributing to the increasingly prosperous development of Hung Yen province.

At the ceremony, provincial leaders and leaders from various sectors and localities presented flowers and offered incense to celebrate the Buddha's Birthday and performed the ritual of bathing the Buddha.
