General Phan Van Giang presided over the inauguration ceremony of Phan Thiet Military Airport.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on the morning of December 19th in Lam Dong, Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang emphasized the strategic role of Phan Thiet military airport.

On the morning of December 19th, in Lam Dong province, along with other localities nationwide, the Ministry of National Defense, in coordination with local authorities, held the inauguration ceremony of Phan Thiet military airport as part of a series of events where the Government simultaneously inaugurated and commenced key projects to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

General Phan Van Giang, member of the Politburo , Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defense, presided over the inauguration ceremony of the Phan Thiet military airport construction project.

Also attending were the head of the General Department of Logistics and Technical Services, representatives from functional agencies under the General Staff, the General Political Department, the Finance Department, the Office of the Ministry of National Defense; the heads of Military Region 7, the Air Defense - Air Force Command, the Engineering Corps, etc.

Attending the inauguration ceremony were: Mr. Nguyen Tuong Van, Deputy Minister of Construction; Mr. Ho Van Muoi, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province; and representatives from central ministries and agencies.

Phan Thiet Military Airport is a key project invested in by the Ministry of National Defense, with special significance for the task of strengthening national defense and security, enhancing the training capacity and combat readiness of the air force, and at the same time creating momentum to promote socio-economic development of the locality and the region.

In his remarks, the Minister of National Defense emphasized that "Phan Thiet military airport is a key project, a national defense project."

Speaking at the ceremony, General Phan Van Giang emphasized that the inauguration of the Phan Thiet Military Airport construction project is a particularly important political event, demonstrating the efforts of the entire political system, contributing to strengthening the air defense and air force posture, improving the quality of training and combat readiness of the armed forces.

The Minister of National Defence stated that putting Phan Thiet military airport into operation contributes to the formation of a new strategic posture, creating an important highlight in the deployment of forces of the Air Defence and Air Force Command and the entire army; at the same time, with its strategic location and potential, the airport has the potential to develop into a dual-use airport in the future, creating momentum to promote socio-economic development of Lam Dong province and the surrounding area.

The inauguration of Phan Thiet military airport not only completes key defense infrastructure in Lam Dong province, but also opens up favorable conditions for effectively exploiting the potential for developing aviation services, logistics, and tourism in the future.

General Phan Van Giang, member of the Politburo and Minister of National Defense, along with leaders from the Central Government and Lam Dong province, performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate Phan Thiet Military Airport.

The project's investment policy was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 25/QD-TTg dated March 18, 2021. Immediately afterwards, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense identified this as a particularly important political task, requiring its implementation with urgency, decisiveness, scientific approach, and efficiency, ensuring the progress and quality of the construction.

With a total investment of 7,925 billion VND, Phan Thiet military airport was built according to military standard level I and civilian standard level 4E of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), capable of receiving modern military aircraft and wide-body aircraft.

The project is built on an area of ​​over 439 hectares, with a system of airfields, runways, taxiways, aprons, flight control facilities, barracks, and integrated technical infrastructure.
