In 2017, after graduating from high school, Vu Van Nam applied to and was admitted to Hanoi University of Science and Technology. However, due to difficult family financial circumstances, after 3 years Nam stopped studying and started working to help support his family.

However, stopping his studies didn't mean stopping his dreams. In 2021, Nam applied for admission to the high-quality Mechatronics program, K57, under the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Thai Nguyen University of Technology. And then, right here in Thai Nguyen, Vu Van Nam embarked on an impressive academic journey.

Throughout his four years of study, Vu Van Nam received nine academic achievement scholarships, eight of which were for outstanding students. This achievement not only demonstrates his rapid progress but also his remarkable perseverance in his studies.

Throughout his studies, Nam consistently thought deeply about, explored, and researched various scientific topics, actively participating in competitions organized by the faculty and the university. As a result, Vu Van Nam's academic achievements were not merely impressive numbers; he was a formidable competitor in various competitions, winning numerous prestigious awards.

Notable achievements include: In 2022, Nam won second prize in the multiple-choice section and second prize in the problem-solving section of the 24th National Student Physics Olympiad. In 2023, Nam won third prize in the experimental section of the 25th National Student Physics Olympiad. In 2024, Nam won an honorable mention at the Euréka 2024 Student Scientific Research Competition in Physics – a large-scale and prestigious competition. Most recently, in 2025, Nam excellently won third prize in the principles of machines section of the 35th National Mechanics Olympiad.

Besides the awards, Vu Van Nam was also recognized with the title of "Outstanding Student" at the provincial level in Thai Nguyen in 2023; and the title of "Outstanding Student" at the national level in 2024. For two consecutive years (2024, 2025), he was awarded the title of "Advanced Youth Following Uncle Ho's Teachings" at Thai Nguyen University.

Sharing about his academic achievements, Nam said: "Participating in competitions helped me meet many outstanding friends and learn humility. Those experiences have helped me mature a great deal."

Not only is Vu Van Nam an outstanding student, but he is also an inspiration to the entire class in their studies.

Hoang Van Duc, class president of the K57 High-Quality Mechatronics class, commented: "Nam often proactively guides and answers questions about assignments for his classmates, especially in difficult subjects. Nam's enthusiasm and energy have greatly improved the class's learning spirit, and extracurricular activities have become much more vibrant."

Meanwhile, Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy, Deputy Head of the Mechatronics Department, shared her pride in Nam, saying: "Nam is always proactive, has a progressive spirit, and constantly strives to develop himself. The awards he has won are clear evidence of his persistent efforts and hard work."

With his impressive academic achievements, Vu Van Nam is not only a source of pride for Thai Nguyen University of Technology, but also an inspiration for the younger generation to dare to venture out and create their future, taking control of their lives.
