On school grounds, folk dance has become a popular and accessible extracurricular activity, requiring no advanced skills, providing opportunities for students to participate, improve their health, and strengthen bonds within their class or faculty. Thanks to its flexibility and team spirit, folk dance has gradually become a familiar activity at many educational institutions in the province.

On November 23rd, the Thai Nguyen University Student Union organized a Folk Dance Festival, attracting the participation of 7 units with over 1,500 students. From early morning, the Thai Nguyen University grounds were filled with lively laughter and chatter. Amidst the chilly early winter air, groups of students in energetic and sporty outfits hurriedly adjusted their scarves, quickly braided their hair, and reviewed each dance step together. Their radiant faces and confident eyes, combined with the music, brought the entire space to life.

Each participating unit submitted two entries to the Festival, one of which was mandatory: "Vietnamese Hearts." The overarching theme of the competition was love for the homeland and country; youthful creativity; and the aspiration to contribute, all vividly expressed on stage.

The audience experienced a range of emotions while watching the elaborately staged performances. In the mandatory song "Vietnamese Hearts," the image of hundreds of students simultaneously placing their hands on their chests and singing aloud, "We are not afraid to dedicate ourselves, we are not afraid to sacrifice. Oh, Fatherland! Call my name!" made viewers feel the proud heartbeat of youth. From their resolute eyes to their decisive and powerful movements, everything created a sacred and deeply moving atmosphere.

In the optional performance, each unit chose its own color scheme. Students from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy were youthful and vibrant with their pop music. Students from the University of Foreign Languages presented a performance full of youthful enthusiasm. Meanwhile, students from the University of Science brought a moment of silence to the campus with the sound of President Ho Chi Minh's voice echoing against the backdrop of the Declaration of Independence music, the red flag with a yellow star fluttering amidst the students in their Youth Union uniforms.

Do Thi Binh, a student in Pharmacy Class K19A, Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, Thai Nguyen University, said: "Participating in the festival made me very happy. Every day I went to practice felt more meaningful. I got to dance, chat happily with my friends after stressful study hours. Despite being busy, it was all worthwhile. Participating in the program, my friends and I are all very proud, love our country, and want to contribute."

At the end of the festival, the first prize went to the team from the University of Education with two elaborately staged performances involving 250 students. The compulsory performance stood out with its large formations, creating creative shapes and lettering. In the performance "Continuing the Story of Peace - The Road Ahead," the young people all wore military uniforms, reenacting the journeys of hauling artillery, as a tribute to the previous generation.

Luong Tung Phuong, a student from the Physical Education Department of the University of Education, shared: "Folk dance helps us improve our health, reduce stress, and become more confident. The most valuable thing is the spirit of solidarity; when hundreds of people work together for a performance, we learn to trust, support, and respect each other."

Speaking at the event, Mr. Le Van Hieu, Vice President of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Student Association and President of the Thai Nguyen University Student Association, emphasized: The competition contributes to improving health, enhancing soft skills, fostering camaraderie among students, and creating a healthy playground. He expressed hope that the program will be further promoted and developed in the coming years.
