Recently, former US President Donald Trump shared about the shocking assassination attempt he experienced at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania last Saturday night.

The British newspaper The Standard quoted Republican candidate Donald Trump as saying that he "would have died" if he hadn't turned around to look at a chart on illegal immigration, and described the incident where a bullet grazed his ear as a "very surreal experience."

The former US President said: “If I had only turned my head halfway, the bullet could have hit the back of my brain. If I had turned in the other direction, it could have gone through my skull. Because the sign was high up, I had to look up. The chances of me making a perfect head turn were probably one in a thousand, so I shouldn’t be here.”

According to Trump, his doctor said he had never seen anything like it and called it "a miracle."

Referring to the photo of him raising his fist and shouting to his supporters shortly after the incident, the former White House occupant shared: “Many people said it was the most impactful photo they had ever seen. They were right, and I didn’t die. Usually, you have to lose your life to get a photo that will last a lifetime.”

Donald Trump, 78, wanted to convey to his supporters that he was doing well: “I said I had to go out. I didn’t want to be taken out. I also have no problem with traveling.”

Speaking to The Washington Examiner , the former US president said he has completely rewritten his speech at the Republican National Convention, to be delivered next Thursday, focusing on national unity following the recent assassination attempt.

Earlier, a day after the assassination, Trump asserted: "At this moment, nothing is more important than us uniting, showing the true character of the American people, being strong, determined, and not allowing evil to prevail."

Incumbent President Joe Biden has directed the head of the U.S. Secret Service to review all security measures for the Republican National Convention, taking place from July 15-18, declaring that "nowhere in America is this kind of violence allowed – or any kind of violence for that matter."

This is currently the most serious assassination attempt on a US president or presidential candidate since US President Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981.
