Dried coconut prices are low.

Báo Cần ThơBáo Cần Thơ24/06/2026

In recent months, the price of dried coconuts in the Mekong Delta has continuously decreased, currently lower than at the beginning of 2016 and the same period last year. Ready-harvested dried coconuts sold at the farm gate are only 50,000-55,000 VND per dozen (12 coconuts), while those harvested by traders fetch 40,000-45,000 VND per dozen. This price is 20,000-25,000 VND per dozen lower than at the beginning of the year. The price drop is due to increased difficulties in export; small traders and businesses have also reduced their purchase of raw dried coconuts.

Packaged yellow and white sugar with branded packaging sold in stores and supermarkets is priced at 32,000-35,000 VND/kg. The price drop is due to abundant supply and weak consumer demand.

Early harvesting of summer-autumn rice crops reduces profits due to increased costs.

The early-sown summer-autumn rice crop of 2026 in Can Tho City and some provinces in the Mekong Delta has begun to be harvested. Fragrant rice varieties such as OM 18, Jasmine 85, and Dai Thom 8 (fresh rice) are priced at 6,100-6,300 VND/kg; IR 50404 and OM 545 are priced at 5,800-6,000 VND/kg. According to many farmers, although the selling price of rice is similar to the 2025 summer-autumn crop, profits have decreased significantly due to the high prices of fertilizers and many other production inputs.
