The mark of Vu Quang's three breakthroughs.

Building on the spirit of unity, with high determination and great efforts from the entire political system, after more than half of the way through implementing the Resolution of the 5th District Party Congress, Vu Quang (Ha Tinh) has achieved many accomplishments.

The people of Vu Quang have always been united and in agreement with all levels of government in building new rural areas and focusing on economic development.

The 5th Congress of the Vu Quang District Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term set forth 37 targets with 3 breakthroughs: maximizing the potential and advantages of forests and forest land; promoting the restructuring of the agricultural sector towards value chain linkages, high-tech applications, organic farming, and sustainable ecological agriculture; exploiting the advantages of Vu Quang National Park and Ngan Truoi Lake; mobilizing maximum resources to build infrastructure, develop tourism and trade; and developing Vu Quang town into an ecological urban area. The goal is to build a team of cadres at all levels with sufficient qualities, capabilities, and prestige to meet the requirements of the new era.

After more than half of the term's efforts, the locality has now achieved an estimated 21 targets. Specifically regarding the three breakthrough areas, the district has promptly issued resolutions, policies, and solutions to implement them appropriately each year. Thanks to the timely support and assistance from the district, along with the consensus of all sectors of the population, Vu Quang has made significant progress, most notably in restructuring the agricultural sector towards value chain linkages, applying high technology, organic farming, and sustainable ecological agriculture to implement the first breakthrough area: forest and agricultural development.

The locality has partnered with Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company to cultivate over 15 hectares of rice in Huong Minh commune; and is piloting organic pig farming at 3 households in Duc Bong and An Phu communes.

In particular, nearly 80 hectares of oranges grown by 7 cooperatives in the area have been certified as organic products. Initially, these models have all brought considerable economic benefits to the producers.

Ms. Le Thi Ly, owner of the DT39 rice production model in Hop Loi village (Huong Minh commune), happily shared: “My family was the first household in the commune selected by the district and Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company to pilot the production of 1,000 m2 of organic rice. Over the seasons, the rice has grown and developed well, flowering on time, and especially achieving outstanding yields, reaching nearly 58 quintals/hectare (2 quintals/hectare higher than the control rice). Thanks to this, our income is also higher than before.”

In addition to connecting with Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company, the locality has coordinated with the Provincial Farmers' Support Center and WAO Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (Ha Tinh) to implement the construction of 5 organic agricultural production models, focusing on fruit trees, including: green pomelo, Taiwanese pear guava, oranges...

Mr. Bui Khac Bang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Vu Quang District, said: “In recent years, the district has effectively utilized its advantages in hill and orchard farming, improving the lives of the people. The entire district currently has over 2,300 hectares of fruit trees, 16 large-scale concentrated livestock farms, and thousands of small-scale livestock farming households. In particular, through proactive connections with businesses and the Provincial Farmers' Association, the district is implementing agricultural models towards circular organic farming and clean agriculture, creating important “nuclei” for building circular, safe, friendly, and ecological rural economic chains, meeting the sustainable development goals of the locality.”

Regarding the second breakthrough, Vu Quang has been effectively exploiting the potential and advantages of Vu Quang National Park and Ngan Truoi Lake. The Ngan Truoi Hydropower Plant, now operating stably, is a concrete realization of the aspiration to increase investment attraction in the area. Accordingly, the district has also started construction on two energy projects worth nearly 850 billion VND: the High-Tech Energy System Operation Center and the Vu Quang Hydropower Plant; developed a plan for the development of ecotourism around Ngan Truoi Lake and submitted it to relevant authorities; and implemented the construction of rural tourism destinations as part of the New Rural Development program, such as the residential clusters of Hoa Thi (Tho Dien commune), Cua Linh, and Dong Choi (Duc Linh commune)...

Each year, these residential areas welcome more than 100 delegations of officials from within and outside the province to visit and learn from their experiences, and nearly 8,000 visitors. In addition, the goal of developing Vu Quang town into an ecological urban area has achieved significant results. To date, the locality has completed 28 out of 52 targets according to Decision No. 04/2022/QD-TTg dated February 18, 2022, of the Prime Minister, with the remaining criteria completed at 60-85% of the required standards.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (residential group 4, Vu Quang town) shared: “Seeing our hometown flourish day by day, we are very excited. The construction of the town into an ecological urban area is a correct policy that is in line with the people's wishes. This is proven by the active participation of residential groups and people in every project and task; most notably the act of donating land and trees to expand roads and renovate residential houses.”

Regarding the third breakthrough, according to Ms. Nguyen Thi Viet Ha, Secretary of the Vu Quang District Party Committee, in recent years, the locality has always emphasized the exemplary responsibility of cadres and Party members, first and foremost the heads of agencies, organizations, and units; building a team of cadres with dedication, aspirations, and a spirit of daring to think, daring to act, daring to take responsibility, serving the people, and ensuring that words are matched by deeds; and being decisive in action. Thanks to this, the targets and breakthroughs in the Resolution of the 5th District Party Congress, term 2020-2025, have been implemented promptly and effectively.

The living standards of the people in Vu Quang are improving day by day.

The Secretary of the Vu Quang District Party Committee added that in the coming time, the district will continue to attract and integrate resources to focus on implementing the criteria for building advanced new rural communes, model new rural communes, and completing the criteria for building an advanced new rural district.

The locality will accelerate the construction and implementation of the family economic development project to leverage the advantages of forest and hill land; create sustainable livelihoods, increase people's income, and replicate good practices and effective models. In addition, the locality will also ensure social security and improve people's lives through the development of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas with appropriate policies.
