A new milestone for education in mountainous regions.

In November, as the whole country celebrates Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20th), construction begins on new schools in the mountainous communes of Da Nang. Soon, these new schools will be completed, providing teachers and students in these remote areas with a more spacious and better learning environment. This is not just a story about building schools, but also a journey to create opportunities and narrow the educational gap between different localities across the city.

The policy of building schools for border communes is a major decision with profound political , social, and humanitarian significance, demonstrating the special concern of the Party and State for people in remote areas, especially students in the border regions of the country. This is an important political task assigned to 22 provinces and cities with land borders, including Da Nang. Following the directives of the Politburo and the Government, and under the guidance of central ministries and agencies, the city surveyed and compiled a list of proposals to submit to the Government for investment in the construction of six new boarding schools for six border communes with a total investment of approximately 1,500 billion VND.

Specifically, on October 16th, the city commenced construction of the Tay Giang Primary and Secondary Boarding School (Tay Giang commune) with an area of 71,687m2, including classroom blocks, boarding blocks for primary and secondary students, teacher and staff blocks, a multi-purpose building, a library, and a comprehensive technical infrastructure system, with a total investment of approximately 262 billion VND.

The remaining schools simultaneously commenced construction on November 16th, including: A Vuong Primary and Secondary Boarding School (A Vuong commune), built on an area of over 7 hectares (70,281 m2), with a scale of 30 classrooms, including student dormitories, teacher and staff quarters, a multi-purpose building, a library, and a complete technical infrastructure system, with a total investment of 293 billion VND.

The newly built school will create favorable conditions for teachers and students in the mountainous region to improve the effectiveness of teaching and learning. Hung Son Primary and Secondary Boarding School (Hung Son commune) has 38 classrooms (25 primary school classes and 13 secondary school classes) including functional blocks such as subject classrooms, administrative block, student and teacher dormitory, canteen - kitchen, multi-purpose hall, library, sports field, synchronized technical infrastructure and experiential garden, with a total cost of over 278 billion VND.

The La Êê Primary and Secondary Boarding School (La Êê commune) is built on an area of 75,975m2, with a total investment of 270 billion VND, including facilities for teaching, learning, and living such as a 3-story classroom block (2 blocks), an administrative block, subject classrooms, a canteen, a multi-purpose building, a parking system for students, teachers, and visitors, a mini football field, a wastewater treatment area, sports facilities, landscaping, and a complete technical infrastructure.

The Dak Pring Primary and Secondary Boarding School (Dak Pring commune) has a total investment of over 288 billion VND with a planned area of 60,805 m2 (6.08 hectares), including the construction of two new 3-story classroom blocks; a 3-story administrative block; a canteen block, a multi-purpose building block, a student dormitory block, and a teacher and staff housing block.

The La Dêê Primary and Secondary Boarding School (La Dêê commune) has a projected total investment of 291.551 billion VND, with a planned area of approximately 78,700 m2.

The commencement of construction on border schools is not just a simple building project, but also a practical gift to teachers and students in mountainous areas, where teaching and learning still face many difficulties. The city always considers education a key foundation for sustainable development in border regions; therefore, the simultaneous commencement of construction on these boarding schools is an important step, contributing to upgrading facilities, creating a safe and integrated learning environment, and alleviating the inconveniences faced by teachers and students.

In areas with challenging terrain and long distances between villages and hamlets, the boarding school model will create conditions for students to receive stable education and reduce dropout rates due to transportation difficulties. Boarding school facilities not only provide a safe, modern, and equitable learning environment for students in disadvantaged areas but also improve teaching effectiveness, attract qualified teachers, and encourage them to commit to the school long-term.

Over the past period, the city has proactively reviewed planning and selected suitable construction sites. At the same time, it has closely coordinated with central ministries and agencies to prepare the necessary investment procedures to ensure the project is implemented on schedule, with quality, and that the new schools are operational for the 2026-2027 school year.

At the groundbreaking ceremony for the schools, city leaders requested that the investors, consulting and supervisory units, and construction contractors strictly adhere to the schedule and ensure the quality of the projects right from the initial stages. Particular attention should be paid to the functionality, learning and living spaces for students, safety standards, fire prevention and control, environmental protection, and technical infrastructure.

Relevant departments and agencies will continue to coordinate closely during the implementation process; promptly resolve obstacles related to procedures, technology, materials, and land clearance; and proactively inspect and monitor to ensure the project is implemented according to requirements. The ultimate goal is to put the facility into use on schedule, meeting the expectations of the people, serving the learning and living needs of students, and contributing to the socio-economic development of the border region.

When the construction is completed and put into use, the new school will continue to be a place where teachers sow the seeds of knowledge, where students ignite their dreams and open the doors to learning, a place where the village changes day by day, and a testament to the affection and responsibility of the Party, the State, and the people towards the people.
