On September 11, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai had a meeting and worked with the US Grains Council (USGC) on promoting biofuel development in Vietnam.
Attending the meeting were representatives of several units of the Ministry of Industry and Trade such as the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Domestic Market, the Department of Oil, Gas and Coal. On the side of the US Grains Council, there were Mr. Brent Boydston, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the US Grains Council; Mr. Ryan LeGrand, President and CEO of the US Grains Council; Mr. Caleb Wurth, Director of Southeast Asia and Oceania, US Grains Council; Mr. Tran Trong Nghia, representative of the US Grains Council in Vietnam...
According to the representative of the US Grains Council, USGC always focuses on developing the bioeconomy as well as the green economy worldwide. In Vietnam, the Council has established activities since 1995, and up to now, the two sides have had many effective cooperation activities. In particular, USGC has had many efforts to help the Vietnamese Government implement the Net Zero target, the activities have been carried out smoothly and received the attention of the two governments. At the same time, USGC also said that Ethanol is an alternative fuel solution towards sustainable development and this is also a very large field that the US Government is interested in and developing.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai highly appreciated the efforts of both sides in the past time to promote the implementation of activities under the Memorandum of Understanding signed on October 28, 2020 between the two sides. This is the basis for the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the USGC to carry out more activities with higher efficiency to continue to establish a cooperation agreement between the two sides on biofuel development in Vietnam, which is also an area of great interest to the Vietnamese Government. Along with that, the Ministry of Industry and Trade always considers promoting green growth a key task to create a space for sustainable development, in depth, not only for the present, but also for future generations.
According to Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai, in the coming time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Information and Communications in promoting propaganda to help people increase the use of biofuel; focus on building national standards on gasoline and biofuels; the Ministry also focuses on attracting human resources and learning international experiences in this field. Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai said that the development of biofuels is a long journey, especially for a country with many difficulties like Vietnam. Therefore, the Deputy Minister suggested that the US Grains Council will continue to support Vietnam and coordinate more closely with the Ministry of Industry and Trade in implementing activities related to this field./.
