Man Utd posted a farewell video for De Gea.

" I want to send this farewell message to all Manchester United fans. I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for this love of the past 12 years. We have achieved so much since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to the club."

De Gea joined Manchester United in 2011, one of manager Ferguson's last notable signings. He won one Premier League title, one FA Cup, one Europa League, two Carabao Cups, and three Community Shields with the Red Devils. De Gea was named to the Team of the Year five times and won the Premier League Golden Glove twice.

The Spanish goalkeeper decided to leave Man Utd when contract renewal negotiations hit a snag. Initially, he had reached an agreement to stay at Old Trafford, accepting a pay cut, but the club's management changed their minds and offered him an even lower salary. De Gea's position at Man Utd was also not guaranteed if he stayed.

Manchester United are targeting Inter Milan's Onana as a potential replacement for De Gea. Inter Milan will only sell Andre Onana if they receive an offer that meets their asking price. The reigning Champions League runners-up are asking £50 million for the Cameroonian goalkeeper.

Manchester United are in urgent need of a goalkeeper. They only have one goalkeeper, Tom Heaton, training during the early days of pre-season. Onana is not the only target for Man Utd in the goalkeeping position. Manager Erik ten Hag is interested in Robert Sanchez of Brighton, also a goalkeeper highly rated for his ball-handling skills and ability to initiate attacks.
