Hanoi National University said that the 2025 Competency Assessment Exam has completed 6 rounds, attracting nearly 90,000 candidates.
The 2025 HSA test score distribution is normally distributed with a mean of 78.8/150; median at 78/150.
The highest score in 2025 is 130/150 (candidates taking the Science exam (Q01: Physics, Chemistry and Biology); the lowest score is 31/150; The percentage of candidates achieving a score of ≥ 105/150 is about 3.94%; the score of ≥ 100/150 is 8.13%; the score of ≥ 90/150 is 23.7%; from 80/150 and above is 47.2%; from 75/150 is 60.2%.
Thus, compared to 2024, the average HSA score in 2025 is about 2.3 points higher (78.8 compared to 76.5) and the standard deviation is slightly higher (14.3 compared to 13.3). This shows that the exam results in 2025 tend to increase slightly, up about 2-3 points compared to the same period last year.

HSA Test Score Distribution 2025 |
A notable difference is that the lowest score in 2025 is much higher than in 2024 (31 points compared to 17 points). This may indicate that the 2025 exam is not too “puzzling” at the basic level. At the same time, the percentage of candidates achieving good scores (≥90,≥100) in 2025 also increased slightly compared to 2024.
Despite the slight increase in scores, the distribution has been generally stable over the years – the median has remained around 76-78 points for the past three years, despite the number of candidates increasing by 15-25% each year.
The average score tends to increase slightly but still ensures high differentiation, which can predict that the admission score using the HSA exam will increase, especially in hot majors.

HSA Point Conversion Plan to 30 Point Scale
The Ministry of Education and Training requires converting individual exam scores to a 30-point scale to unify admission methods and ensure fairness.
Hanoi National University has proposed the conversion method by percentile (Equipercentile). This method uses the test results data of candidates taking both the HSA and the high school exam, helping to directly compare the results of the same group of people. The percentile of each HSA score is calculated, then the corresponding high school combination score is found at the same percentile. This method preserves the relative rankings of candidates between the two methods, ensuring fairness in competitive rankings. The conversion can be done separately for each high school admission combination (A00, A01, B00, C00, D01, etc.) to match the characteristics of each block.
