The memorial to the heroes of the 20th-Quyet Thang road (located in Tan Trach commune, Bo Trach district) was started in September 2004 and completed in November 2005. The memorial was established to commemorate the contributions of generations of soldiers, youth volunteers, and civilian workers who built, fought, and protected this vital road for transporting goods and weapons to support the Southern battlefield during the resistance war against the US…

Next to the Memorial Temple for Heroes and Martyrs of the 20th-Quyet Thang Road is the historical site of the Eight Youth Volunteers' Cave, associated with the tragic and heroic story of the courageous sacrifice of eight youth volunteers (all from Hoang Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province) belonging to Youth Volunteer Squad 163, Company 217, Construction Unit 67, Group 559, and five artillery soldiers while on duty on November 14, 1972.

“The place where I am standing – Road 20 – Quyet Thang was once a fiercely contested battleground; a place built by the efforts and sacrifices of heroic martyrs, soldiers, and Youth Volunteers, many of whom were very young, so that today, we can enjoy peace . We, the young generation, pledge to strive and work hard to build and develop our country to become increasingly prosperous and strong…”, shared Le Anh Thu (Dong Hoi City) while offering incense at the Eight Youth Volunteers' Cave.

Recently, the renovation and refurbishment of the Memorial Temple for Heroes and Martyrs of Road 20-Quyet Thang, funded through social contributions by the Vietnam Commercial and Industrial Bank, has been completed. This ensures that the temple is always preserved, respected, and worthy of the contributions of the heroes and martyrs; it also serves as a spiritual tourism destination attracting many visitors from all over the country…

In Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, besides the aforementioned historical sites, there are many other significant and important historical relics, such as: Nurse's Cave, Xuan Son Ferry Terminal, Nguyen Van Troi Ferry Terminal, Phong Nha Cave, Ba Thang Slope…; each relic is associated with events, achievements, battles, and the courageous and creative labor of cadres, soldiers, and troops of the Truong Son Army and other branches of the armed forces and Youth Volunteers in the cause of fighting against the US and saving the country. These are also "red addresses," contributing to the education of patriotic spirit and traditions for future generations.

“Every day, the temple management board assigns staff to be on duty to ensure the solemnity of the monument, as well as to take care of it and offer incense; at the same time, creating the most favorable conditions for people and tourists to come and pay their respects and offer incense here…”, said the Head of the Management Board of the Memorial Temple for Heroes and Martyrs of Road 20-Quyet Thang.
