House cleaning service is popular during Tet holiday

In the days leading up to Tet, with busy work schedules, many families have to seek out house cleaning services. Due to high demand, house cleaning prices these days have almost doubled compared to normal days, however, those who provide this service are still in high demand.

As Tet approaches, the demand for cleaning and house cleaning increases, not only are cleaning service companies in high demand but freelancers also receive many job applications. Although hiring freelancers is not as professional as service companies, the rental price is cheaper, so many families choose it. This is also the time for freelancers to take on extra work to increase their income. At this time, many cleaning service workers have to work from early morning to late at night.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien in Te Lo commune, Yen Lac district said: "From now until Tet, we are fully booked for house cleaning. There are many families who call urgently, pay higher service fees, and some even offer to rent at any price, but we cannot accept it."

Ms. Nguyen Thi Sang in Dinh Trung ward, Vinh Yen city said: "The group that provides house cleaning services has 10 people; the group has worked together for 3 years so they have regular customers. When there is a schedule, the sisters will assign tasks to each other. Near Tet is the time when the group receives the most work. Even though customers pay a higher price for the service than the general price, her group still cannot meet all of their requests."

At this time, many families are willing to pay high prices to hire house cleaners, however, it is not easy to find someone to do the service near Tet. On normal days, the price of house cleaning services ranges from 300,000 - 400,000 VND/person/day; but on days close to Tet, this service costs from 600,000 - 700,000 VND/person/day.

Ms. Pham Kim Dung in Dong Da ward, Vinh Yen city said: "I usually hire someone to clean and do a general house cleaning twice a year. Near Tet, I have to make an appointment 1 month in advance so that I and the cleaning service provider can be proactive."

The number of customers choosing house cleaning services increases every year, creating jobs and income for many freelance workers. Because this service brings in higher income than other jobs, while supply cannot meet demand, many workers and laborers also take advantage of weekends to take on extra work.

Ms. Pham Thi Ha, a worker at Ba Thien II Industrial Park, Binh Xuyen District, said: “My sister-in-law works as a cleaner for several families. Near Tet, my sister received a lot of work, so I took advantage of the day off to work with her to increase my income.”

Since the beginning of December, many companies and centers providing cleaning and home improvement services have been working at full capacity to receive orders. The companies offer many service packages to suit customers’ needs, including many service packages such as cleaning by the hour, by area, etc.

Mr. Ngo Van Cong, Director of Trang Linh Investment and Service Company Limited, Vinh Yen City said: “The company is maintaining 10 cleaning teams. From around the end of the 11th lunar month, the cleaning teams began to be overloaded because the demand for cleaning and housekeeping of customers increased many times. Although the demand increased, the company did not increase the service price (the average price for house cleaning service is from 18,000 - 20,000 VND/m2).

Due to increased customer demand, the company has to mobilize all employees to work together, and at some times, it has to contract additional seasonal workers. Also, due to the unstable number of employees near Tet, the company will prioritize customers who regularly use the service. For customers who do not register in advance, the company will only accept work if the schedule can be arranged.

The closer to Tet, the more demand for house cleaning services increases. However, families also need to research and choose reputable and responsible units and individuals. In addition, when the staff performs the work, the homeowner also needs to closely monitor to ensure the most satisfactory house cleaning for Tet, while avoiding any possible unpleasant incidents.
