According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in China, on June 23, the 17th Summer Davos Forum released the report "Top 10 Emerging Technologies of 2026," introducing key technologies that have the potential to reshape the industrial landscape, influence policy direction, and transform the social landscape in the next five years.
According to the report, these 10 emerging technologies include the Internet of Things (IoT), direct lithium extraction technology, passive radiation cooling materials, perfluorinated/polyfluoroalkyl degradation technology, precision fermentation, exosome drug delivery, personalized mRNA cancer vaccines, quantum simulation-based drug discovery, world modeling, and network cryptography.
The forum organizers stated that after years of focusing on software, the wave of artificial intelligence (AI) transformative technologies is shifting from screens to physical systems supporting the modern economy —energy, medicine, food, and materials.
Of these 10 emerging technologies, eight can directly impact physical systems, and the focus of their competitive advantage has shifted from the software level to the ability to control infrastructure, materials, biological processes, and industrial data.
In addition, several emerging technologies selected this year are breaking the link between geography and production, freeing the production of key materials from the constraints of climatic and geological conditions.
World Economic Forum Managing Director Stephan Mergenthaler said: "Each technology not only has the potential to bring about profound changes to its respective fields, but when combined, they reveal a major trend in technological innovation. In the energy, health , and manufacturing sectors, the emergence of new trends has the potential to overturn our long-held notions about using technology to address pressing challenges such as food security, climate change, and incurable diseases."
The 17th Summer Davos Forum took place in Dalian, Liaoning Province, China from June 23-25 with the theme "Scaling Up Innovation."
Within the framework of the forum, Chinese Premier Li Qiang delivered a special speech at the opening ceremony.
In addition, the forum was attended by the Prime Ministers of Bangladesh, Guinea, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Mongolia, and Montenegro, and more than 1,700 representatives from government officials, businesses, research institutions, and media from over 90 countries and territories.
