Conditions for Vietnam U17 to qualify for the World Cup

The victory against U17 Yemen gives U17 Vietnam a significant advantage in Group C of the 2026 AFC U17 Championship, as South Korea and UAE both share the points.

The 1-0 victory against Yemen U17 in their opening match provided a crucial boost for Vietnam U17 in their quest for a World Cup spot. Coach Cristiano Roland's team not only secured three points but also benefited greatly from South Korea U17's 1-1 draw against UAE U17 in the subsequent match.

After the first round of matches, Vietnam U17 temporarily took the lead in Group C and has a very good chance of advancing to the next round. The Southeast Asian representative is now just one win away from securing a World Cup ticket.

In their next match against South Korea U17 on May 10th, if Vietnam U17 secures another 3 points, they will have already achieved their goal. Even without a favorable result, Coach Roland's team still has control over their own destiny in the final match against UAE U17.

The draw between South Korea and UAE helped Vietnam U17 avoid a very unfavorable goal difference scenario. If UAE and Yemen draw in the second match, Vietnam U17 could still enter the final match with a much easier task, perhaps even just needing a draw against UAE to advance.

However, the Vietnam U17 team must not be complacent.
