Creating fireworks from a technological platform.
At DIFF 2026, the two Vietnamese representatives, Da Nang team and Z121 Vina Pyrotech, strived to deliver performances that harmoniously combined technology, fireworks, and music .
According to Mr. Nguyen Nhat Vu, Team Captain of Da Nang , with the theme "Nature of the Heritage Region," the team developed the music into seven chapters. Thanks to the application of design and programming technology, the fireworks effects of the home team became colorful and perfectly synchronized with each melodious tune.
"A beautiful fireworks display requires a convergence of both technique and emotion. When the technique reaches a high level of sophistication and touches the audience's emotions, that's when it's a successful show," Mr. Vu shared.
Following their runner-up finish at DIFF 2025, the Z121 Vina Pyrotech team continued to invest heavily in equipment and technology. At DIFF 2026, 100% of the team's performance scenarios were simulated in 3D to optimize visual effects.
Thanks to this, the team's performance made a strong impression, most notably the image of the palm tree - a symbol of Phu Tho province - which was vividly "painted" using modern technology.

According to Colonel Tran Anh Manh, Deputy Director of Chemical Company No. 21 (Z121 - General Department of Defense Industry, Ministry of Defense), experience in research, production, and demonstration is an advantage that helps Z121 spread the "Made in Vietnam" fireworks brand to the international arena.
The fourth night of DIFF 2026 (June 20th), with the theme "Creativity," focused on highlighting the technological element, opening up a space for showcasing ideas for the teams Josef Steffes-Ollig Feuerwerk GmbH (Germany) and Apple Pyrotechnics (Macau, China).
Patrick Thomas Reuter, team leader of Josef Steffes-Ollig Feuerwerk GmbH, said that this theme allowed the team to break the boundaries of traditional fireworks. With their "Pyrographics" performance, they "painted a fiery picture" in the Da Nang sky using visual effects blended with music.
"Balancing the preservation of traditional identity with the application of modern technology and equipment is no easy task. We always strive to combine these elements to create a perfect performance," Patrick expressed.
Major General, musician Nguyen Duc Trinh, President of the Vietnam Musicians Association - a member of the DIFF 2026 judging panel, commented that each year, the competing teams have shown exceptional creativity with unique ideas and distinct ways of telling stories, making the themes incredibly diverse.

Technology connects cultures.
According to the DIFF 2026 organizing committee, fireworks cannot spontaneously "draw" shapes when they explode; effects such as hearts or stars are actually enlarged versions of a geometric structure that has been precisely arranged inside the firework during the manufacturing process.
When activated, the central explosive propels the incendiary particles into space almost instantaneously. This arrangement is maintained long enough for viewers to register the image before it vanishes. This is the result of a well-planned investment in technology.
Ms. Nadia Shakira Wong, CEO of Global 2000 and Advisor to the DIFF 2026 Jury, stated that the FireOne system currently being used at DIFF is one of the most reliable, accurate, and safe devices available.

FireOne is not simply a button, but a complex system directly connected to the main stage via an underwater fiber optic cable, complete with a wireless backup system to ensure uninterrupted operation.
The system uses a highly safe electronic detonator. The entire program is pre-programmed according to a timecode; once activated, the performance will run automatically and cannot be interrupted.
This requires absolute coordination with the stage crew. For example, the MC must precisely follow the script to match the timing of the automatic fireworks activation.

Compared to 17 years ago – when everything had to be activated manually – technology has evolved dramatically. New technological trends allow fireworks displays to achieve near-perfect accuracy, with an error rate of only 0.01%.
Most importantly, technology helps make performances more accurate and safer for both the audience and the organizing team.
Ms. Nadia Shakira Wong, CEO of Global 2000 - Advisor to the DIFF 2026 Jury
According to Ms. Nadia, the intersection of technology, live performances, and fireworks has given Da Nang many great opportunities to host international-scale festivals.
Specifically for DIFF, it is one of the rare festivals that has built a complete ecosystem, where fireworks not only evoke emotions but also serve as a space for cultural exchange and global connection. The combination of ceremonial and festive elements, built on a technological foundation, has created a unique identity for Da Nang.
