The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) published an article summarizing the outstanding players at the AFC U23 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026™, highlighting the impressive performance of Nguyen Dinh Bac – a player who left a special mark on the Vietnamese U23 team's journey in the tournament.
According to the AFC, Nguyen Dinh Bac shone at the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Championship with a series of decisive performances, making a significant contribution to Vietnam U23's success and securing third place overall.
At the end of the tournament, Nguyen Dinh Bac won the AFC U23 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026™ top scorer title, with 4 goals and 2 assists. The AFC described it as a "memorable tournament" for the striker, as he consistently made a difference in important matches.
Dinh Bac also set a new record for the most goal-scoring contributions by a Vietnamese player at a U23 Asian Championship, surpassing Nguyen Quang Hai's 5 goals in 2018. He also became the first Southeast Asian player to win the top scorer title at the continental U23 tournament.

At this year's tournament, Dinh Bac displayed all-around skills, from close-range finishing, heading, and free kicks to his ability to create chances. However, the U23 Vietnam striker also had a low point when he received a direct red card in the 86th minute of the third-place match, resulting in a two-match suspension as decided by the AFC.
Nguyen Dinh Bac was born in 2004 in Nghe An province. He rose through the ranks of the Song Lam Nghe An youth academy and previously played for Quang Nam before joining Hanoi Police FC. He has made 13 appearances for the national team and was voted the best player of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.
The Vietnam U23 team concluded their journey in the tournament by securing third place, after winning on penalties against South Korea U23 in the third-place match, thus further affirming the position of Vietnamese youth football on the continental stage.
