Cu Van Temple - A historical landmark

Eighty years have passed, but the momentous historical event that took place at Cu Van communal house (Dinh hamlet, An Khanh commune, now hamlet 8) remains vivid in people's hearts. It is a memory of the time when "the nation rose up," a place historically chosen as a stopping point and gathering place for the revolutionary army.

The Cù Vân communal house was rebuilt through donations from the local people.

During those historic August days, we had the opportunity to visit the Cù Vân communal house historical site to hear stories about a revolutionary land. The story goes that three days before the liberation of Thái Nguyên town, Comrade Võ Nguyên Giáp led a revolutionary army from Tân Trào (Sơn Dương - Tuyên Quang) to gather at the Cù Vân communal house courtyard.

On the afternoon of August 17, 1945, the people of Dinh hamlet and the surrounding area enthusiastically welcomed and supported the Viet Minh. Mr. Truong Van Thiet, a local tailor, was assigned the task of sewing the national flag for the rally that would take place early the next morning.

And that flag fluttered brilliantly under the August autumn sky, the people of the region excitedly gathered to respond to the call of the Viet Minh Commune Committee, listening to Comrade Vo Nguyen Giap disseminate the announcement of the General Uprising order to gain independence; announcing the establishment of the Cu Van Commune Liberation Committee; the establishment of the National Salvation Youth Association; and the National Salvation Women's Association of Cu Van Commune.

Comrade Vo Nguyen Giap called on the people to participate in the General Uprising, providing food, supplies, and weapons. Immediately after the rally, Comrade Vo Nguyen Giap led the liberation army along the trail from Cu Van through Song village, An Khanh commune, towards Dan Pagoda, Quyet Thang ward, to reorganize the forces before attacking the Japanese fascists entrenched in the center of Thai Nguyen town.

Those glorious days have gone down in the nation's history. But what remains in the hearts of the people of Dinh Hamlet is a spirit of exuberance, forever shining brightly with the revolutionary struggle. That memory is like a torch illuminating the hearts of generations of people in Dinh Hamlet, guiding them towards a prosperous and happy future.

Currently, Dinh hamlet has 173 households and 623 inhabitants. The income of the people mainly comes from agricultural production, averaging 57 million VND/person/year in 2024.

The people of Dinh hamlet participated in building rural infrastructure.

Despite the ongoing economic difficulties, the people of Dinh Hamlet maintain a spirit of unity, upholding the revolutionary traditions of their ancestors and actively contributing to infrastructure development.

Next to the Cù Vân communal house, dedicated to the village's guardian deity, the people of Đình hamlet have contributed to building a spacious community center as a meeting place for the community. Inside the center is a library of legal books, and the walls proudly display certificates and awards from various levels and sectors.

Mr. Truong Van Thang, Secretary of the Party Branch and Head of the Front Committee of Dinh Hamlet, said: "The hamlet's cultural center and sports field were built with social contributions. To date, 100% of the internal hamlet roads have been concreted, and many roads leading to the fields have been concreted by villagers who donated land along with the State, meeting the standards of the new rural development program..."
