In terms of tourism development, Thai Nguyen province possesses many outstanding advantages in terms of historical relics, traditional cultural identity, and natural landscapes. These values ​​are being effectively exploited, becoming invaluable resources, shaping distinctive tourism products, and gradually affirming the position of tourism in the province's economic landscape.

In 2025, the Thai Nguyen tourism industry is expected to welcome more than 7.3 million domestic and international visitors.

The province currently has 51 licensed travel companies, including 40 domestic and 11 international travel companies. They boast a dynamic team of tour guides, comprising 68 international guides, 169 domestic guides, and 57 local guides. This is a crucial force directly contributing to improving the quality of service, image, and visitor experience.

Tourism accommodation infrastructure has received significant investment, better meeting the diverse needs of the market. Currently, the province has 787 tourism accommodation establishments, including 96 hotels, comprising 10 three-star hotels, 7 two-star hotels, 3 one-star hotels, and 76 hotels meeting standard requirements.

In addition, there are 691 tourist guesthouses and accommodations with rooms for rent. The accommodation and dining system ensures that tourists feel comfortable when extending their stay and increasing their spending. To make Thai Nguyen known to friends both domestically and internationally, the province is implementing a comprehensive and diverse range of promotional and tourism stimulus activities.

In 2025, provincial authorities published a photo book titled "Experiencing the Land of Tea, Rich in Identity"; released a brochure titled "Preserving and Promoting the Value of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Thai Nguyen Province"; and improved and upgraded tourism promotion signs throughout the province.

Also last year, the province proactively organized a tourism promotion conference to introduce the tourism potential and strengths of Thai Nguyen in Hanoi and Hue; participated in promoting tourism in 8 Northeastern provinces in conjunction with the 21st Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival in 2025...

Tourism development cooperation programs have been implemented systematically, creating an open and inter-regional development space. Notable examples include the "Through the Heritage Regions of Viet Bac" tourism program; the tourism development cooperation program between Ho Chi Minh City and eight Northeastern provinces; and the Memorandum of Agreement between the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province and Vietnam Airlines Corporation on a comprehensive cooperation program for the period 2023-2027.

These programs contribute to expanding the market, enhancing connectivity, and increasing the competitiveness of Thai Nguyen tourism. Based on its potential in natural and cultural tourism resources, the province's tourism sector is developing four types of tourism products that are distinctly local and closely linked to tea culture.

These are the key tourism products: community-based and rural tourism; cultural, spiritual, and historical tourism; ecotourism and resort tourism; MICE tourism ( tourism combining work and leisure ), sports, and adventurous cave exploration. Clearly defining these key product lines helps Thai Nguyen tourism create a unique and distinctive impression in the hearts of tourists. To achieve appropriate progress, the province is focusing on investing in and implementing many important infrastructure projects to serve tourism development.

Typical examples include the digital transformation project; the project to connect the provinces of Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, and Phu Tho; the project to upgrade and expand the road from KM31 (National Highway 3) to the ATK Dinh Hoa Special National Historical Relic Area; the project to renovate and upgrade the DT 261 road; the extended Bac Son road project... These projects contribute to completing the transportation network, creating favorable conditions for connecting tours and routes and effectively exploiting tourist areas and destinations.

In reality, tourism in Thai Nguyen is developing in a professional and sustainable direction, effectively exploiting its potential in terms of resources, culture, and people. With clear direction and the synchronized involvement of all levels, sectors, and the business community, Thai Nguyen tourism is gradually improving the quality of its products, affirming its position, and becoming an attractive destination on the Vietnamese tourism map.
