On the morning of September 3rd, Djokovic secured a hard-fought victory against Taylor Fritz with a score of 3-1 (6-3, 7-5, 3-6 and 6-4) in the quarterfinals of the 2025 US Open men's singles.
This victory puts him against Alcaraz in the semi-finals. It also extends his head-to-head record against Fritz to 11 consecutive matches.
Fritz's defeat also means that the drought of Grand Slam titles for American male tennis players will officially extend to its 23rd year, since Andy Roddick's victory at the 2003 US Open.
Now, tennis fans around the world will witness another classic showdown between Novak Djokovic and second seed Carlos Alcaraz. If Djokovic wins, he could face world number one Jannik Sinner in the final.

The head-to-head history between Djokovic and Alcaraz is quite balanced. Djokovic currently leads 5-3, but the score in Grand Slam tournaments is 2-2. However, on hard courts, Djokovic holds a clear advantage with three consecutive wins.
The upcoming semi-final match is more than just a ticket to the final. For Alcaraz, the 22-year-old has the chance to reclaim the world number one ranking if he wins the 2025 US Open. For Djokovic, it's another step on his path to becoming the greatest tennis player of all time with his 25th Grand Slam title.
The semi-final match between the two players is expected to take place on the morning of September 5th.
