TPO - The dugout canoe race on Dak Bla River ( Kon Tum ) gathered 68 athletes with 40 racing boats from 14 units in Kon Tum province to participate.

According to the Organizing Committee, the majority of the contestants are ethnic minorities. They are people who are used to living and fishing along large rivers with dugout canoes. |

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Man - Chairman of Kon Tum City People's Committee said that the tournament is a useful playground for people, especially ethnic minorities, to exchange, contributing to preserving, maintaining and developing traditional sports in general, and dugout canoe racing in particular. |

In recent years, the dugout canoe racing has been assessed by Kon Tum province as having great potential for tourism development; especially community tourism. |

In Vietnam, while most rivers flow east and then empty into the sea, the Dak Bla River flows west. Therefore, local people often call it the river that flows backwards. |

The dugout canoe race is an activity in a series of events celebrating the 15th anniversary of Kon Tum city's founding (April 10, 2009 - April 10, 2024). |

At the end of the tournament, the Organizing Committee awarded 2 first prizes, 2 second prizes and 2 third prizes to the excellent teams. |
