After the ceremony, the palanquin of the Two Sisters was carried from the temple to the communal house of Ha Loi village with a well-organized procession of ceremonial attendants. Command flags, flags representing the five elements, flags representing the four mythical creatures, a female guard, along with white elephants, pink horses, white horses, etc., created a vibrant and colorful festival scene, rich in traditional colors.
The ritual of "exchanging palanquins"—changing the position of the palanquins of the Two Sisters during each stage of the procession—continues to be preserved, reflecting the profound meaning of sisterly love, family order, and national unity in Vietnamese culture.
Throughout the procession, the palanquins repeatedly switch roles, lifting the palanquins over the heads of the participants, creating a undulating image like a dragon winding amidst the procession of flag bearers, accompanied by the lively sounds of drums, gongs, and traditional music. This unique feature contributes to the allure of the festival in the historically and culturally rich land of Me Linh.
The Hai Ba Trung Temple Festival in 2026 will take place from February 22nd to 24th (corresponding to the 6th to 8th days of the first lunar month of the Year of the Horse). More than just a significant cultural and religious event of the capital city, the festival is also an occasion to pay tribute to the contributions of the Trung Sisters in founding and defending the nation, fostering patriotism and national pride for present generations.
