Sułoszowa is located in the Olkuska highlands, in the Małopolskie province of southern Poland, about 30km northwest of Krakow. The village is often described as a "miniature Tuscany".
All 6,000 residents live, work, and shop along a single, over 9km-long road that runs through vast green and yellow fields. Viewed from above, the overall landscape of Sułoszowa resembles a leaf.
Along both sides of the road, hundreds of houses with red and blue roofs stand close together. Behind these houses are endless stretches of rice fields, creating a peaceful and beautiful rural landscape.
At the edge of the village stands a magnificent rock formation, atop which sits a castle dating back to the 14th century. From here, one can gaze out over the breathtakingly beautiful countryside.
Life here is slow-paced, quite peaceful, and the older villagers enjoy it. Younger residents are increasingly leaving. Those who remain cherish and preserve the unique character of the village.
Most villagers know each other, enjoy chatting, and maintain community activities. "Strawberry Day" and "Potato Day" are famous events in Suloszowa, where people meet, share produce, and enjoy live music. The village's senior citizens' club is a great place with lots of lively activities.
The village was founded in the 16th century by a military officer from the aristocratic class. It is this unusual layout that has made Sułoszowa famous worldwide .
Aerial photos of Sułoszowa that have gone viral on social media have attracted tourists to visit.
Besides this picturesque village, visitors can also explore the nearby Ojcowski National Park. Ojcowski is famous for its strangely shaped limestone formations and mysterious caves. The ancient Pieskowa Skała Castle near the village is also a must-see for history enthusiasts.
