Vietnam's wood and furniture industry has experienced strong growth in recent years, establishing its position in the international market. Binh Duong is one of the country's major wood production and processing centers, with over 1,200 wood industry enterprises; many of which are large wood companies, consistently leading in technological innovation and creativity in design and production.
Ms. Duong Thi Tu Trinh, Director of BIFA Trading and Service Joint Stock Company, said that the company will soon cooperate with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) - Ho Chi Minh City Branch to organize the 5th International Exhibition on Smart Furniture Solutions (SFS VIETNAM 2024). At this exhibition, international exhibitors will introduce advanced solutions in the field of digital technology for the production of interior and exterior furniture using smart devices, helping to increase productivity, save labor, and improve product quality in the production process. “Through the exhibition, businesses will gain practical knowledge of Industry 5.0 and explore automated technologies in the production of panel furniture, solid wood furniture, wood panels, doors, and flooring… The organizers of SFS VIETNAM 2024 will create the best conditions for investors to meet and connect,” Ms. Duong Thi Tu Trinh said.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Liem, Director of VCCI - Ho Chi Minh City Branch, said: “We have collaborated with the Departments of Industry and Trade of 21 provinces and cities nationwide and reached out to over 30,000 domestic businesses and 5,000 international businesses. SFS VIETNAM 2024, held in Binh Duong, is an important event to open up many new cooperation opportunities for businesses in the wood and furniture industry. With the goal of introducing and promoting smart furniture solutions, the exhibition not only helps businesses access advanced technology and design but also helps expand the supply chain, promoting sustainable production and export. Mr. Nguyen Truong Thi, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that the department will continue to create favorable conditions for businesses, organizations, and individuals in the wood and furniture industry to build a sustainable and innovative development environment. “In the context of an increasingly changing market, grasping new trends and applying advanced technology to enhance product value is a prerequisite for businesses to maintain and develop sustainably. Businesses need to update the latest trends in technology, design, and optimal solutions for living and working spaces, while also serving as a platform to introduce smart furniture products and solutions, acting as a bridge for businesses to learn, exchange experiences, find partners, and expand markets,” Mr. Nguyen Truong Thi emphasized.
To enable the wood industry to build on its achievements and overcome new challenges, the Department of Industry and Trade continues to implement a comprehensive set of key solutions, including promoting foreign trade activities, supporting businesses in connecting with trading partners, expanding markets, and signing new export orders beyond traditional markets.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, in the first 10 months of 2024, the export turnover of the wood processing industry in the province was estimated at nearly US$5.405 billion, an increase of 24.1% compared to the same period in 2023, accounting for 19% of the province's total export turnover. The main export markets are the United States, the European Union, Japan, Canada, South Korea, and Australia.
