Anthropic, an artificial intelligence startup backed by Amazon, introduced Claude's Max on April 9th, a new paid version of its chatbot priced to directly compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT.
Specifically, customers only have to pay $100 per month to get five times the usage of the Pro plan, or $200 per month for twenty times the usage. For comparison, OpenAI's ChatGPT Pro, the equivalent of Claude's Max, currently has a fixed price of $200 per month.
Claude's Max package is positioned higher than Anthropic's free and $20 /month packages, but lower than the version for large enterprises. According to the startup, subscribers will have "priority access to new models and capabilities, creating an exclusive channel for testing and deploying advanced Claude solutions."
According to CNBC , the Claude's Max package includes access to Claude's voice mode, a feature that will be introduced soon, according to product manager Scott White.
Claude 3.5 Sonnet – Anthropic's latest model focused on analysis, text and image generation – has outperformed OpenAI's GPT-4o in several tasks.
Specifically, this model can analyze complex and nuanced statements, and understand concepts such as humor. Claude 3.5 Sonnet's response speed is twice as fast as the previous version.
The Claude 3.5 Sonnet also excels in visual capabilities, being able to analyze charts and graphs more accurately, in addition to recognizing text from "unclear" images such as those that are distorted or blurry.
The amount of text that Claude 3.5 Sonnet can analyze before creating new text is approximately 200,000 tokens, equivalent to 150,000 words. This number is comparable to Claude 3 Sonnet.
In Anthropic's comparison chart, Claude 3.5 Sonnet surpasses GPT-40 in college-level reasoning and programming skills but falls short in problem-solving.
For visual tasks such as mathematical reasoning, scientific diagramming, or graph analysis, Anthropic's models are more efficient than both GPT-4o and Gemini 1.5 Pro.
