Care for and help children
Nguyen Tuan Kiet, grade 6, Nguyen Thai Binh Secondary School (Hai Van Ward) is the youngest child in a poor family. His father died early, leaving his mother to raise Kiet and his three siblings alone. Every day, Kiet walks to school by himself because his mother is busy working to support the family. Despite the difficulties, he has maintained his excellent academic record for many years.
In the same situation, Nguyen Ngoc Uyen (Hoa Khanh Nam ward) also faces deprivation. Her mother died early, her father is a manual laborer, Uyen lives with her elderly grandparents. Uyen is known as a gentle, studious person, always helping her friends. Because she does not own a bicycle, Uyen has to walk to school or ask a friend to take her.
Understanding the difficult circumstances of children, in September 2025, the Danang Children's Fund coordinated with Bao Viet Life Insurance Company to donate 10 bicycles to support disadvantaged students in Hoa Khanh and Hai Van wards, including Kiet and Uyen, with a total cost of 20 million VND. Those simple bicycles became the means to help the children achieve their dreams of going to school.
The City Children's Fund also cares for children with health problems. Ngo Quoc Vuong, 11 years old (Ba Na commune), has a congenital spinal cord tumor and cannot walk. His entire childhood was spent on a small bed and in the care of his parents. In April 2025, the City Children's Fund gave Vuong a wheelchair worth more than 4 million VND to help him move around.
Or the case of Vo Nguyen Thuy Tien (Hoa Khanh Bac ward) who was born with cerebral palsy, unable to sit or do activities on her own. Thuy Tien's family is poor and has an unstable income. Understanding that hardship, in May 2025, the City Children's Support Fund gave Tien a specialized vehicle for children with cerebral palsy. At the same time, 7 other disabled children were also given wheelchairs and specialized vehicles for children with cerebral palsy with a total cost of more than 31.5 million VND.
For children, give livelihood
Not only stopping at providing direct support to children, the City Children's Support Fund also implements livelihood support programs to help disadvantaged children's families stabilize their lives, thereby creating a foundation for better care for them.

Recently, the City Children's Fund in collaboration with the Australian World Relief Organization (AOGWR) provided livelihood support to 17 households with disadvantaged children in Hoa Tien and Hoa Vang communes, with a total budget of 100 million VND. Of these, 11 households received breeding chickens, 5 households received breeding cows and 1 household received breeding pigs.
Ms. Huynh Thi Thuy Tam (Khuong My village, Hoa Vang commune) is one of the households supported with breeding cows, worth 10 million VND. Ms. Tam has kidney failure, her husband is a manual laborer with an unstable income, and her two children are of school age. “The gift is a hope for my family to build an economy and take care of my children’s education. I will take good care of them, multiply the herd, to make life better,” Ms. Tam said.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Hoa Vang Commune, said: "With the livelihoods donated by the Children's Support Fund, we will provide technical guidance and supervision to ensure effectiveness. Thereby, helping families escape poverty sustainably and feel secure in taking care of their children."
Established in 1997, the Danang City Children's Support Fund (under the Department of Health) operates with the goal of mobilizing domestic and foreign resources to protect, care for, and educate children in special circumstances.
From 2024 to mid-2025, the Fund received more than 3.1 billion VND in funding from organizations, businesses and individuals. From this resource, the Fund awarded 260 scholarships, 200 sets of school supplies, 150 bicycles to children in difficult circumstances; supported clean water projects for 2 rural kindergartens in the old Hoa Vang district.
In addition, the children's health care program has also been widely implemented. Last year, the Fund coordinated congenital heart screening for more than 95,500 children, detected and supported surgery for 55 children with heart disease; donated medical equipment and rehabilitation tools to 32 disabled children. At the same time, livelihood programs have helped 12 poor households with children in the old Hoa Vang develop livestock and improve income.
Deputy Director of the Department of Health Doan Thi Hoai Nhi said: “Over the years, the activities of the City Children's Support Fund have not only provided material support, but also sowed the seeds of love, aroused faith and determination in every difficult situation. In the coming time, we will continue to mobilize social resources, expand programs to care for, protect and educate children, so that no child is left behind.”
