A prominent family in the ancient land of Hoi Trieu.

In the village of Hoi Trieu, formerly part of Hoang Hoa district, now Hoang Chau commune, the Luong family is known as a glorious lineage. While Luong Dac Bang, who held the title of "Bang Nhan" (a high-ranking scholar in the imperial examinations), is revered by posterity for his exemplary conduct, his son Luong Huu Khanh and grandson Luong Khiem Hanh were both accomplished individuals whose names are recorded in history.

Formed by the Ma River, the Cung River, and the Lach Trao estuary, Hoi Trieu possesses the characteristics of a delta region. Since ancient times, it has been praised as a blessed land, a place where many families have settled. And the Luong family is one of the families that came to Hoi Trieu quite early.

Born and raised in a family that valued scholarship, possessing innate intelligence and diligent study habits, and having the opportunity to study under the scholar Luong The Vinh, Luong Ngan Ich - also known as Luong Dac Bang - became increasingly knowledgeable. In the imperial examination of the year Ky Mui (1499), he passed with distinction.

As an honest and upright official, Luong Dac Bang presented the king with 14 strategies for governing and saving the Le dynasty; however, his strategies were not implemented. Faced with this situation, he resigned from his position and returned to his hometown to teach. Hearing of Teacher Luong Dac Bang's school, students from all over flocked to study with him, and many achieved academic success.

Not only was his official career fraught with difficulties, but the life of the scholar Luong Dac Bang was also full of hardships. According to family records, he was childless. After much longing, while his wife was pregnant, he suddenly fell seriously ill and passed away. Legend says that before his death, he only managed to instruct his wife to name their child Huu Khanh.

From a young age, Luong Huu Khanh was exceptionally talented. As he grew older, his mother, remembering her husband's advice, took him north to seek out the scholar Nguyen Binh Khiem (a former student of Luong Dac Bang) for tutoring. Under the guidance of Nguyen Binh Khiem, Luong Huu Khanh's learning flourished, and he understood everything he learned. He participated in the imperial examination organized by the Mac dynasty, but dissatisfied with the unfair ranking system, he withdrew from the final examination. It was during his time in Thang Long (Hanoi), contemplating the affairs of the state, that he finally decided to return to Thanh Hoa to "support the Le dynasty and overthrow the Mac dynasty."

In Yen Truong, the base where the Le dynasty began its restoration, Luong Huu Khanh was trusted by the Le king and Trinh lord. With his outstanding talent, he was appointed to the positions of Minister of War and Advisor on military strategy, leading troops in battle. In 1557, Mac Kinh Dien, a general of the Mac dynasty, led his fleet to attack Thanh Hoa. General Luong Huu Khanh, disguised as a fisherman on the river, waited for the Mac army to be careless before attacking, causing them panic. Following this, the Le army ambushed them, launching a massive assault. In this battle, the Le-Trinh forces captured over 300 warships. In 1570, the Mac army, with 100,000 troops and 700 warships, entered Yen Truong and Van Lai, aiming to capture the Le king and destroy the Le-Trinh restoration base. Facing this critical situation, Luong Huu Khanh and several other generals convened a meeting and implemented a diversionary tactic, successfully repelling the Mac army. In 1578, the Mac army again advanced and occupied districts in Thanh Hoa. Upon reaching the Lạch Trào estuary, right next to Hội Triều village, Lương Hữu Khánh and General Trịnh Bách commanded their troops to intercept and annihilate the Mạc dynasty's navy... Thanks to his many meritorious deeds, Lương Hữu Khánh was appointed by King Lê to the position of Minister of War and granted the title of Đạt Quận công.

Following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, one of Luong Huu Khanh's sons, Luong Khiem Hanh, also became an outstanding individual. In the Ky Suu examination of 1589, at the age of 27, he passed with distinction as a Third-Class Doctor of Literature. He served as an official, reaching the position of Senior Secretary in the Ministry of Rites.

Mr. Le Ngoc Hanh, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Hoang Chau Commune People's Committee, shared: "Although the life of the scholar Luong Dac Bang was arduous and full of hardships, what he left behind for future generations was a blessing. Thanks to that blessing, even during times of turmoil, his son Luong Huu Khanh and grandson Luong Khiem Hanh still shone brightly, bringing glory to their ancestors' legacy, leaving their names in history, and leaving a source of pride for the land and people of Hoi Trieu."
