During the past term, agriculture was the first sector to make its mark in the locality. The restructuring towards increasing value yielded clear results. The area of high-quality rice production increased significantly, reaching 4,769 hectares, contributing to an impressive total food production of 519,428 tons. In addition, the conversion of 258 hectares of low-yield rice land to vegetable and fruit cultivation opened up new avenues, diversifying products and increasing income for the people. These figures are not only economic achievements but also evidence of the flexibility and responsiveness of the local government and the proactive adaptation of the farmers.

Alongside agriculture , industry and handicrafts have also made strong progress. The total number of production facilities increased by 248, bringing the total to 584. This sector mainly focuses on agricultural production and provides employment for thousands of local workers. This stable growth not only contributes to the total value of production but also creates sustainable livelihoods and improves the lives of many families.

In particular, tourism has become a key highlight, creating a unique identity for Oc Eo. The Oc Eo - Ba The National Special Monument Area has been effectively preserved, restored, and exploited. The number of tourists and researchers visiting and learning about the site is increasing, reaching over 6,000 per year. The development of tourism not only brings economic revenue but also helps promote the cultural and historical values of a brilliant civilization, arousing pride in the hearts of every Oc Eo native.

Entering a new term, the people of Oc Eo's faith extends beyond simply reviewing past achievements; they also look forward with great expectations. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc, a teacher at Nguyen Cong Tru Secondary School, expressed: “We expect the commune's Party Committee to continue investing in education and training, especially in modern facilities and teaching equipment to meet the requirements of the reformed general education curriculum. Along with that, we hope for continued focus on training and developing teachers in professional skills, expertise, and the application of information technology and digital transformation in teaching and learning; promoting the movement to encourage learning and talent, and caring for students in disadvantaged areas, especially the children of the Khmer ethnic minority.”

Ms. Nguyen Thuy An, Secretary of the Tan Vong Hamlet Party Branch, emphasized the role of each Party member in achieving the common goal. “To successfully implement the congress resolution, each Party member must set a good example and lead the way, mobilizing the people to participate. Goals regarding income, poverty reduction, infrastructure development… will only be achieved with the consensus and unity of the entire population,” Ms. Nguyen Thuy An affirmed.

The people's expectations are also reflected in the major goals for the 2025-2030 term, such as: increasing per capita income by 40% by 2030 compared to 2025; bringing tourism, trade, and services to account for more than 50% of the economic structure; and reducing the poverty rate to below 0.5%. These goals are concretized through breakthroughs: improving transportation infrastructure, promoting digital transformation, developing tourism associated with heritage, and restructuring agriculture towards high technology.

Comrade Le Hong Tham - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - suggested that in the new term, the commune should diversify its unique, high-quality tourism products, linked to the cultural and historical values of the Oc Eo - Ba The National Special Relic Site. Along with that, it should restore and develop traditional crafts and cultural characteristics of the Khmer people associated with the national special relic site to develop local tourism and services. At the same time, it should strengthen social welfare policies, sustainable multidimensional poverty reduction policies, and policies for war veterans and families of policy beneficiaries in a comprehensive and inclusive manner, following the guiding principle of "leaving no one behind." Emphasis should be placed on social protection for vulnerable groups; creating a safe living environment, fully implementing children's rights, and gender equality policies.
