On the morning of May 30, Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City, said that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued a document approving the Hue City People's Committee to establish a scientific council to assess the situation and propose a plan to preserve and restore the national treasure, the broken Nguyen Dynasty throne.
The composition of this council is decided by Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong. The position of chairman of the council is held by a leader of Hue City People's Committee. Regarding the members, the ministry agrees with the list of 11 experts proposed by Hue City People's Committee.
In addition, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism sent MSc. Pham Dinh Phong, Dr. Nguyen Van Doan - Director of the National Museum of History, and MSc. Nguyen Thi Huong Thom - Head of the Preservation Department, National Museum of History to join the above scientific council.
Mr. Hai said that after receiving the document from the ministry, the city will soon establish a scientific council to conduct an assessment and propose a plan to restore the broken Nguyen Dynasty throne.
Previously, the Nguyen Dynasty throne was overtaken by Mr. Ho Van Phuong Tam - a visitor to Thai Hoa Palace - who climbed over the security fence, sat on it, and broke the armrest of the national treasure throne.
The armrest of the throne was broken into 3 large pieces along with many small pieces of wood that are being kept by the police as evidence in the case of vandalism of national treasures.
