On the morning of May 30th, Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City, announced that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism had issued a document approving the Hue City People's Committee to establish a scientific council to assess the condition and propose methods for preserving and restoring the broken national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty throne.

The composition of this council is decided by the Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, Nguyen Van Phuong. The position of chairman of the council is held by a leader of the Hue City People's Committee. Regarding members, the ministry agreed with the list of 11 experts proposed by the Hue City People's Committee.

In addition, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism appointed Mr. Pham Dinh Phong, M.Sc., and Dr. Nguyen Van Doan - Director of the National Museum of History, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong Thom, M.Sc. - Head of the Conservation Department, National Museum of History, to participate in the aforementioned scientific council.

Mr. Hai said that after receiving the document from the ministry, the city will soon establish a scientific council to conduct an assessment and propose a plan to restore the broken Nguyen Dynasty throne.

Previously, the Nguyễn Dynasty throne was broken by Hồ Văn Phương Tâm, a visitor to Thái Hòa Palace, who climbed over the security fence, sat on it, and then broke off the armrest of the national treasure.

The armrest of the throne, broken into three large pieces along with many smaller fragments of wood, is being held by the police as evidence in the case of vandalism against a national treasure.
