According to statistics from the independent box office monitoring site Box Office Vietnam , the latest film of Doraemon: Nobita and the Adventure into the World of Paintings sold more than 350 thousand tickets with 8,370 screenings. On the morning of June 2, the total revenue exceeded 112 billion VND, likely breaking the record of Doraemon: Nobita and the Symphony of the Earth (2024) - 147 billion VND - to become the most popular anime ever in domestic theaters.

The film had early screenings on May 17 and 18 before its release on May 23. Mr. Nguyen Khanh Duong, founder of Box Office Vietnam , commented that the cinema closure during the first two weekends of its release did not affect the revenue growth much, because the characters are familiar to global audiences and the project's content is highly appreciated. In addition, word of mouth also contributed to attracting viewers to the theater.

The 44th Doraemon film directed by Yukiyo Teramoto, celebrates the 45th anniversary of the series. The story follows Nobita's group of friends who arrive in Artoria - a medieval European kingdom with many precious paintings. There, the group meets Claire - a princess who has been missing for four years, a drawing-loving boy named Mairo and a bat named Chai. However, the joy does not last long when a dark force appears, threatening the existence of Artoria and her new friends.

The project balances humor and emotion, with both main and supporting characters contributing to the depth of the film. One of the elements that makes it unique from previous works is the lesson on artistic value. The music , especially the classic song Yume wo Kanaete Doraemon , brings viewers back to their childhood memories with the robot cat.

However, the voice acting of actors Salim and Hai Long (who play the queen and king of the kingdom of Artoria) received negative feedback. On social networking forums, many people commented that the voice acting quality was bland, causing a lack of emotional flow. Some viewers even wanted the distributor to change the voice actors.

Coming in second on the weekend box office chart was Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning , earning VND15 billion, bringing its total revenue to over VND21 billion. Experts said the film was "inferior" to the work from Japan, as the summer movie season is the "golden time" for animation, chosen by many families. Doraemon is for audiences of all ages, while Tom Cruise's project is for viewers aged 16 and over.

Third place belongs to Disney's Lilo & Stitch , earning nearly 10 billion VND, a total of 19 billion VND after more than a week of showing. Following is the Vietnamese animation De Men: Adventure to the Swamp with 6.5 billion VND in opening. The film is less competitive than international projects, but is still a positive number for the domestic animation industry. Previously, the producer said there was no pressure when competing with big brands. The plus points are beautiful images and effects. The animals are designed vividly, with their own characteristics, and some variations related to age and gender.

A24's horror film Bring Her Back closed out the top 5 with 2.8 billion VND. The film tells the story of two siblings, Andy and Piper, who encounter many mysterious events when they move to live with their guardian in a new house.
