The company is currently implementing phase 2 of the project to help young trees grow healthily and maximize their carbon absorption capacity.

Accordingly, the program "Building the Future - J&T Express Joins Forces to Plant 1 Billion Trees" is being implemented by J&T Express in collaboration with the Center for Resource and Environment Communication (under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment - now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ), in response to the Prime Minister's call to plant 1 billion trees in the period 2021-2025.

Information from the Center for Natural Resources and Environment indicates that after 3 months of planting, the saplings have taken root and are growing well with a survival rate of 98.2%. This impressive figure is a positive sign showing the good adaptability of Melaleuca alternifolia – one of the few tree species that can grow in the unique peat swamp environment of UMT National Park. Furthermore, this type of forest tree has a higher CO2 absorption capacity than many other species, 55% higher than tropical forests, significantly contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (according to the Ramsar Convention Secretariat). It is expected that the forest area from these 15,000 Melaleuca alternifolia trees by J&T Express will absorb 120 tons of CO2e after 5 years and 240 tons of CO2e after 10 years.

According to experts, the first three years after planting are the "golden" period that determines the tree's growth potential, so combining new planting with forest care and protection is a key factor in creating sustainable effectiveness for the program.

That's also why J&T Express has decided to partner with the Center for Natural Resources and Environment and UMT National Park to monitor, care for, and protect the melaleuca forest for the next three years (2025-2027). “This will not only help increase the forest area but also ensure stable forest development, enhance its protective capacity, and absorb greenhouse gases. We are working closely with all parties involved to regularly monitor and update the number, health, and growth parameters of the melaleuca trees in the field,” a representative from J&T Express stated.

Besides focusing on the long-term development of the melaleuca forest, in phase 2, enhanced fire prevention and forest protection activities will be implemented monthly and annually. Tree care measures will also be carried out according to the strict standards of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, aiming to ensure the highest survival rate for the forest trees.

Not only is it known as the 5th UNESCO-recognized Biosphere Reserve and the 8th Ramsar site in Vietnam, U Minh National Park is also one of the two most important remaining peat swamp forest areas in Vietnam. It plays a crucial role in conserving biodiversity, regulating climate, and protecting water resources for the Mekong Delta. Choosing U Minh Forest for this environmental project demonstrates J&T Express's aspirations and efforts to preserve these values, contributing to the creation of a green and sustainable environment.

Previously, J&T Express also made its mark through many meaningful projects, most notably the activity of collecting and recycling plastic waste into tables and chairs to donate to schools in mountainous areas. Environmental protection is one of the important pillars of the sustainable development strategy that J&T Express has been persistently implementing for many years. The program "Creating the Future - J&T Express joins forces in planting 1 billion trees" has been and is continuing the journey to realize the "Go green" goal of this logistics company.
