High investment rates, spread out but limited profits, and hidden risks pose a thousand-pound challenge to organizations and businesses when they have the idea of "pouring money" into the forestry sector. In Nghe An , which owns one of the top forest areas in the country, the situation is even more evident. To fully exploit the dormant potential, Nghe An needs bright spots like Song Hieu Agricultural Forestry Company Limited.
Unlike the majority of people who have struggled with the profession, over the past 60 years of formation and development, Song Hieu Forestry has always "lived well" thanks to promptly catching up with the pace of the times. Notably, this is a rare forestry enterprise that operates well in the form of "doing it yourself", basically not depending too much on the annual state budget.

The solid foundation of Song Hieu Agricultural Forestry Company Limited is the forest land fund of more than 7,000 hectares, which is considered a true "gold mine". Based on this, since 2001 the unit has boldly implemented the policy of planting raw material forests, after nearly 25 years the results have been truly sweet:
“Currently, the company is planning two raw material forest planting areas. The highlight is the large timber forest planting area from 8 to 10 years old, with an average output of 180-250 m3/ha, ensuring the supply of raw materials for deep processing, a model with high economic value. Interwoven with that is the planning of small timber forest planting areas from 5 to 6 years old to quickly recover capital, this method minimizes risks when the market fluctuates and natural disasters are unpredictable.
During the implementation process, we focus on improving the breed set, combining and perfecting the technical process, ensuring continuity from the processing stage, burning and clearing vegetation, tilling the land, digging holes to fertilize, to taking care of and protecting the forest during exploitation and processing", Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoang, Chairman of the Board of Members of Song Hieu Agricultural Forestry Company Limited shared.

Currently, Song Hieu owns a "gold mine" of large timber forests of 2,000 hectares, concentrated in areas with slopes < 15-30 degrees, less fragmented terrain, thick soil layer, favorable climate with few storms, planting density in this area ranges from 2,000 - 2,500 trees/ha, business cycle from 8 - 10 years, applying the form of digging holes with excavators. Meanwhile, the raw timber area has a higher density, about 3,100 - 3,460 trees/ha, business cycle from 5 - 6 years, applying the form of digging holes by hand.
Identifying the key role of quality tree varieties, the company has cooperated with the Vietnam Forestry Seedling Science Institute (Vietnam Forestry Science Institute) to proactively produce and put into trial planting a number of new tissue-grown and cutting-grown acacia lines such as AH1, AH7, BV523, BV434, BV10, BV16. In addition, trial planting of tissue-grown eucalyptus lines such as 3229, U6, U72, UP99, Tc4 has also been conducted.
Aiming at sustainable development, up to now, the company has invested in and built 5 new hybrid acacia nurseries, combined with tissue culture acacia production at 5 Forestry Farms with a total cost of nearly 2.5 billion VND. The nursery has a system including a cover system, electricity and water, automatic misting, and drainage ditches according to standards. The work of filling the foundation, making beds, preparing the soil, selecting soil and materials for potting, caring for plants after transplanting, preventing harmful fungi and diseases, fertilizing plants, exporting products... are all strictly implemented according to the transfer process issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Institute of Seed.
In particular, the seedlings for planting must meet the TCVN 11570:2016 standard on forestry varieties. Each acacia variety is planted separately in rows, marked in detail to closely monitor the development process. This is an important factor that helps Song Hieu Forestry own a variety of varieties suitable for weather and soil conditions, thereby creating a premise to increase productivity and efficiency of planted forests.
