The highlight of this year's Khèn Hoa Festival is the Festival of Ethnic Groups, featuring a series of five distinct festivals from February 13th to March 9th, representing the Mong, Tay, Red Dao, Xa Pho, and Giay ethnic minorities.
This will be an opportunity for visitors to experience many traditional festivals vividly recreated in Ban May such as: the Gau Tao Festival of the Mong ethnic group (from February 13th to 14th); the Long Tong Festival of the Tay ethnic group (from February 17th to 18th); the Put Tong Festival of the Red Dao ethnic group (from February 24th to 25th); the Quet Lang Festival of the Xa Pho ethnic group (from March 2nd to 3rd); and the Roong Pooc Festival of the Giay ethnic group (from March 9th to 10th).

During this occasion, many unique traditional customs of ethnic groups are recreated, such as: erecting the Nêu pole and reenacting the Hmong custom of wife abduction; the Chầu Then ritual of the Tay people; the worship ceremony and the love songs and folk songs of the Xa Pho ethnic group; the Xòe dance and the egg dyeing custom of the Giáy ethnic group…
Also on the third day of the Lunar New Year, the Fansipan Heaven's Gate Opening Spring Festival 2024 will take place with many meaningful activities. Thousands of Buddhists and tourists from all over will gather at the sacred Sun World Fansipan Legend spiritual and cultural complex to participate in the Heaven's Gate opening ceremony, offer flowers, bathe the Buddha, write New Year's wishes, chant Buddhist scriptures for national peace and prosperity, and many other meaningful programs. Especially, on the evening of the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, Buddhists and tourists will participate in the sacred lantern offering ceremony at the Bao An Zen Temple - Fansipan cable car station.

During the Lunar New Year holiday, Sa Pa is expected to welcome over 100,000 visitors, an increase of more than 11,000 compared to the same period last year. The peak will be on the 3rd and 4th days of the Lunar New Year, with approximately 65,000 visitors expected.
During this period, Sa Pa town organizes many cultural activities and unique tourism programs to serve tourists and prepares the best accommodation conditions to welcome visitors to the National Tourist Area.
