The dragon statue at Thuy Tien Lake amusement park is 20m high, about 50m long, wrapping around the "pearl" shaped water pavilion at Thuy Tien Lake.
The giant dragon statue "oasis" is located in the Thuy Tien Lake amusement park (Thuy Bang commune, Hue city), connected to the surrounding area by 3 walking bridges.
Many locals and tourists took advantage of the nice weather to visit and check in at the unique dragon statue before it was demolished.
The entrance gate to the abandoned park that was once reported in foreign newspapers has been dismantled, but there are still barriers blocking the way, so cars must park so visitors can walk in, while motorbikes can still drive near the giant dragon statue.
Items such as the abandoned large-scale water music area located opposite the giant dragon statue have been dismantled.
Visitors stop to take photos from the pedestrian bridge leading to the dragon statue and admire the view from the dragon's mouth.
Take photos from the dragon's throat and pose for check-in on the dragon's mouth.
Many young people even pose from the outside to take in the entire giant dragon statue.
The Thuy Tien Lake Entertainment Center project in Thien An Hill area, Hue City (Thua Thien - Hue Province) was started by Hue Ancient Capital Tourism Company in 2001 and put into operation for tourism purposes in 2004 with a total investment of more than 70 billion VND including many items such as aquarium, water music stage, water games, walking path around the lake...
Among them, the aquarium with a dragon architecture winding around the water pavilion in the middle of the lake is a prominent project. However, after being put into operation for a short time and ineffectively exploited for tourism, the project was abandoned.
In 2008, Haco Hue Company took over and planned to rebuild it into a high-end eco-tourism complex, including a conference center, spa resort, restaurant, accommodation, art performances, sports , amusement park and outdoor camping, but the company was later unable to complete it and the park was abandoned. This place has been mentioned in many foreign newspapers.
In 2017, the People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province reclaimed the project land and handed it over to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment for management. In 2022, the government decided to invest in a project to renovate the above area into a community park with a total investment of about 20 billion VND. The investment scale includes building a walking path around the lake with a length of more than 2km and a width of 4.5-6m, a road surface structure of granite on a concrete foundation, renovating the existing concrete road about 210m long, investing in lighting and water supply and drainage systems.
However, due to the long-term and complicated handling of the project investor's assets, the renovation has not been possible in the past. Currently, the unit that won the auction of assets at Thuy Tien Lake Entertainment Center has dismantled some items such as the water music park area and the crescent-shaped bridge on the road through the water music park area..., but the giant dragon statue has not shown any signs of being dismantled.
According to the Land Fund Development Center of Thua Thien - Hue province, after revoking the project, the provincial Civil Judgment Enforcement Department has auctioned and demolished construction items in the Thuy Tien lake area to hand over the site to the local government.
The unit also requested the winning bidder to complete the work in January 2024, however, the winning bidder is asking for an extension because the lake water level is high.
After many years of abandonment, the giant dragon statue has fallen into disrepair and disrepair.
