New growth engine
Mr. Nguyen Tung Lam, Head of the Tourism Management Department (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism), emphasized: In 2025, Thai Nguyen's tourism will be given new opportunities thanks to the connection of tourism resources into a diverse and harmonious ecosystem between nature, culture, and history. From this foundation, the tourism industry will form a new growth engine. The result for 2025 is that Thai Nguyen will welcome more than 7.3 million domestic and international tourists, with estimated revenue reaching nearly 7,447 billion VND.
This was clearly demonstrated during the September 2nd holiday, the peak period at the end of the tourist season. In just 4 days, tourist areas and attractions in the province welcomed more than 240,000 visitors, an increase of nearly 40,000 compared to the same period last year, bringing in revenue of approximately 156 billion VND, 28 billion VND higher than in 2024.
Occupancy rates at accommodation establishments averaged 50%, with many hotels in the central area, especially in Phan Dinh Phung ward, reaching 80-100%.

Mr. Do Trong Hiep, Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Tourism Association, commented: The success of tourism businesses lies not only in the large number of tourists and longer stays, but also in the diverse experiences tourists can participate in. The greater achievement is that the tourism industry has affirmed the capacity of its workforce in areas ranging from reception, accommodation, and food services to tour organization. Businesses and tourism establishments have demonstrated a spirit of cooperation and close collaboration, effectively meeting customer needs and creating a solid foundation for Thai Nguyen to confidently enter the next peak seasons.
Beyond just growth figures, this "acceleration" is also reflected in product diversification, market expansion, and enhancement of the destination's image. Tourists visiting Thai Nguyen not only come for sightseeing but also to experience the depth of culture, immerse themselves in nature and community life, thereby extending their stay and increasing their spending.

One of the key factors driving the growth of tourism in Thai Nguyen is the harmonious convergence of tourism resources and increasingly improved infrastructure. Currently, the province has 19 recognized tourist areas and sites; more than 56 fascinating caves; 137 lakes of various sizes with high scenic and ecological value; and prominent destinations such as Nui Coc Lake, Ba Be Lake, Mua Roi Waterfall, and the Vo Nhai and Na Ri cave systems.
Alongside its natural resources, the province has seen rapid development of its tourism service system. Currently, the province has 741 accommodation establishments, including 94 hotels meeting 1-3 star standards; 50 licensed travel companies; and over 4,700 restaurants and food establishments capable of serving large groups of tourists.
Transportation infrastructure is considered the "golden key" to unlocking tourism development. The synchronized investment in expressways, national highways, and inter-regional routes has shortened travel time between tourist areas and destinations. From Noi Bai Airport, tourists only need about an hour to reach Thai Nguyen and begin their exploration.

The convenient connectivity with Hanoi and neighboring provinces helps Thai Nguyen to leverage its strengths in weekend tourism and short-term travel, especially in line with the increasingly popular trends of green tourism and experiential tourism.
With Vietnam expanding its 45-day visa exemption policy to citizens of 13 countries, Thai Nguyen, with its central location in the Viet Bac region, has an added advantage in attracting international tourists.
Destinations such as the Thai Hai Ethnic Village Ecological Reserve (Tan Cuong commune) and Ba Be Lake (Ba Be commune) have become increasingly attractive destinations for both domestic and international tourists.

The abundant and diverse tourism resources, coupled with the increasingly professional service style of the tourism workforce, have instilled a sense of warmth and friendliness in visitors. Destinations in the northern part of the province, in particular, have experienced a strong resurgence. Many community-based homestay models are entering a busy period, especially during weekends when they are bustling with visitors seeking unique experiences.
To ensure strong and sustainable tourism growth, Thai Nguyen province always prioritizes the ecological environment. In recent years, authorities have proactively implemented many comprehensive solutions to preserve the environment and ensure it remains pollution-free, considering it a core element in creating tourism appeal.
In various areas and destinations, attention is paid to waste collection, sorting, and treatment systems; many accommodation establishments are applying the "Green Lotus" standard, aiming for sustainable development.
Along with that, the awareness of locals and tourists is increasingly improving. Small but practical actions such as disposing of waste properly, reducing the use of single-use plastics, and preserving the public landscape are gradually becoming habits, contributing to building a green, clean, and friendly image of Thai Nguyen in the eyes of friends and tourists.

Regional linkages and collaborative sharing among tourism businesses have opened up many new opportunities.
