VHO - Thanks to a series of large-scale cultural, sports, and tourism events, along with continuously updated tourism products, Da Nang's tourism industry continued to maintain impressive growth momentum in the first five months of 2026, with the number of overnight visitors, service revenue, and travel activities all increasing compared to the same period last year.

According to statistics, in May 2026, tourism activities in Da Nang continued to flourish as the city entered the peak summer tourist season with many promotional programs and attractive events themed "Da Nang - Touching the Authentic."

Many outstanding cultural and tourism activities were organized, such as the "Colors of Quang Nam" exhibition, "Vietnam's Crossroads," the Da Nang Ao Dai Festival 2026, the opening ceremony of the Da Nang beach tourism season 2026, and the "Peaceful Homeland" art gala.

In addition, a series of new tourism products such as Ba Na Sun Fest, Animal Actors Show at Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park, and Da Nang Food Tour 2026 have contributed to enriching the experience for tourists.

In particular, the VNG IRONMAN Vietnam race and the series of international sporting events held during the month attracted a large number of athletes and tourists from many countries, contributing to an increase in international visitors and extending the length of stay for high-spending tourists.

As a result, revenue from accommodation and food services in May is estimated at VND 6,066 billion, an increase of 11.6% compared to the previous month and a 27.5% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Of this, accommodation revenue reached VND 1,935 billion, an increase of 34.8%; and food and beverage revenue reached VND 4,131 billion, an increase of 24.3%.

In the first five months of 2026, cumulative revenue from accommodation and food services is estimated at VND 25,965 billion, an increase of 20.1% compared to the same period last year. Of this, accommodation revenue reached VND 8,152 billion, an increase of 22.2%; and food and beverage revenue reached VND 17,813 billion, an increase of 19.2%.

In terms of visitor numbers, accommodation establishments in the city served approximately 1.778 million visitors in May, an increase of 28.9% compared to the same period in 2015. Of these, international visitors accounted for 872,000, an increase of 31.1%; and domestic visitors accounted for 906,000, an increase of 26.9%.

Overall, in the first five months of the year, the total number of guests served by accommodation establishments is estimated at 7.74 million, an increase of 20.9% compared to the same period last year. Of these, international guests accounted for approximately 4.181 million, an increase of 23.6%; and domestic guests accounted for 3.559 million, an increase of 17.9%.

Notably, the number of overnight visitors continued to increase sharply, reaching approximately 7.012 million in the first five months of the year, a 23.7% increase. The average length of stay also improved, reaching 1.86 days per visit, higher than the same period in 2015.

Besides accommodation, travel activities and tourism support services also maintained positive growth momentum. In May, MICE tourism continued to develop strongly, combining sports, culture, and cuisine. The Full IRONMAN 140.6 event contributed to making Da Nang an attractive international sports destination, attracting athletes and tourists from more than 90 countries and territories.

Many travel businesses have proactively developed specialized packages for international athletes, combining accommodation, transportation, interpretation, and logistics services. In addition, the 2026 MICE tourism promotion program, with its many new support policies, continues to provide impetus to the market.

Revenue from travel services in May is estimated at 411 billion VND, an increase of 6.4% compared to the same period last year. For the first five months of the year, revenue in this sector reached approximately 1,776 billion VND, an increase of 7.2%.

The total number of tourists on organized tours in the first five months of 2026 is estimated at 589,000, an increase of 6.8% compared to the same period last year. Of these, international tourists accounted for 250,000, an increase of 7.8%; domestic tourists accounted for 294,000, an increase of 5.2%; and Vietnamese tourists traveling abroad accounted for 44,000, an increase of 12.2%.

With positive growth results in the first months of the year, along with a series of major events such as the beach tourism season, the international fireworks festival, cultural and sports activities, and summer tourism stimulus programs, Da Nang continues to affirm its position as one of the leading dynamic and attractive destinations in the country, creating an important impetus for the city's economic and service growth in 2026.
